Chapter 3.

Emma.

It's been a day in the Koch’s household. I was still under review so I hadn't started the real work.

Every morning, we wake up by 4:00 am to tidy up the mansion. The mansion wasn't a small one so it would really be difficult cleaning the whole place.

There were nine maids in total, Dorota who was the head maid, Brittney and Marissa who roomed in the first, Jasmine and Mia, also roomies, Mary and Diana, who gave off this kind of weird vibe and finally Alice and I, who stayed in the last room.

Alice has been my guide. She explained things better than the so-called Miss Dorota. The maid's outfit was a little bit tight and short on me but that was the only available size. I never really wore revealing clothes so it was hard adjusting to the new lifestyle.

I learned that Mr. and Mrs. Koch were both out of town and would be back a month after so it was just the grandfather and the twins, boy, and girl that were currently in the mansion.

Alice and I plus Mary and Diana were currently in the kitchen making dinner.

“I can't believe Young Master will be back today. I'm so excited!” Diana squealed in joy.

“I know right? He's so hot!” Mary joined her as they both celebrated.

I turned to Alice, “Who are they talking about?”

“Oh, it's the young master, the Kochs have a son. He's coming here to stay with his grandfather because his parents aren't in town.” she shrugged.

Even if it was just a little bit, I wondered if it was the Koch I knew. My one-time high school bully. No it can't be.

“Hey! What are you all gossiping about? Get back to work you scumbags!” Dorota cursed as we focused on the task before us.

Soon, dinner was yet to be served.

“Mia, go lay the plates and cutleries, blonde, carry the pot with the sliced White Alba Truffles. New girl, get the orange juice and drinking water ready…”

That's my cue, I went ahead to carry the tray of orange juice, I successfully dropped the tray on the luxuriously designed dining table seeing grandpa Amos and the twins, Cara and Craig talking happily.

“He's meant to be back by now, I wonder if there was traffic on the road.” Grandpa Amos said.

I nodded and turned back to head back to the kitchen.

My face suddenly collided with a hard surface which had me falling on the ground. Shit! Did I hit a wall?

Gasps were heard around me, the maid's voices whispering words I couldn't hear as I tried to look up at the wall that I tumbled upon.

I slowly tilted my head up seeing long muscled legs tightly hugged on suit pants. That's when it came to me that I didn't just bump into any wall, it was a person.

I succeeded in finding the person’s face, but just then, my heart stopped beating for a second.

I was met with green eyes that looked too familiar. There stood my high school bully, the one and only handsome jock of Weston High at that time. I wondered if my eyes had seen wrong because I couldn't possibly be working at Jax Koch's parents' household.

This was the guy who made my high school life a living agony. My heart escalated as my hazel eyes clashed with his green orbs, those eyes that gazed at me like I  was junk and waste.

The one and only Jax Koch stood in front of me in his tall glory. He looked so mature compared to when we were both in high school and I didn't know if he recognized me.

His black wavy hair was slicked to the back and he had grown quite a beard that emphasized his jawline. Glistened tanned skin, defined nose and full manly lips. Damn he wasn't this handsome back then. He's like a freaking God.

He looked so muscular now, his broad shoulders outlining his shoulders, you could definitely tell he had abs underneath that suit.

I couldn't help but admit the fact that he was pretty hot. I silently  prayed he didn't recognise me.

Jax Koch glared maliciously, boring his eyes into my face. His expression held that disgusting look as his furrowed brows heightened his cold stare. Jax ignored me going over to the table.

He snarled at his grandpa who just gave him a sigh.

I quickly stood up saying sorry as I bowed my head.

“It's okay Emma, I hope you're not hurt.” Grandpa said surprisingly which made me feel at peace.

“No sir, thank you sir.”I replied before he dismissed me. I glanced at Jax, seeing him give me an irritated look but I ignored him anyway.

It conveyed to me the idea that he didn't recognize me which I'm delighted for. Who knows if he does recognize me, he'll start taunting me the way he used to. I really suffered during that period. He made me feel like I wanted to die. It was awful.

By the time I made it back to the kitchen, Miss Dorota landed me a terrifying slap that echoed throughout the house. My head tilted to the left, my brown long hair falling from my bun by the impact. I held my face as little tears formed in my eyes.

“How dare you inconvenience the young Master! This is your second day and you're already screwing up. Do you know who he is? He can buy your life, your family’s life, even your generation's life! You bitch!” She yelled as all the maids in the kitchen watched the scene that took place before their eyes.

I whimpered, “I'm sorry ma.”

“You better be, you ugly dipstick!” The way she insulted me hurt me to the core but I wasn't gonna let her words get to me.

Ugly? I bet she hasn't even looked in her mirror in decades. Old hag.

She hissed before walking out my sight, my hair still covering my face.

Alice ran to me and enveloped me in a bone crushing hug. She whispered soothing words that calmed my nerves as she escorted me to our room.

“Damn, it was clearly not your fault. I don't know why she has to be so cruel. You have to be careful, Emma. She has her eyes on you now.” She sighed.

“Thanks, is this how she normally insults people?” I packed my hair up to a bun again, wearing the maid headband.

“Duh! It's normal. She literally insults everybody everyday. All the maids here hate her to the bream. If she doesn't at least curse at you, her name isn't Dorota. Trust me.” She retorted.

“Has she humiliated you before?”

“Obviously yes, just because I forgot to dust the artworks hung on the wall by the corridor. Funny thing was the artworks didn't even need to be cleaned. They were already sparkling neat but I guess that's the aim of cleaning.” She pouted as she recalled the memory.

“Sorry about that, I didn't know working as a maid would be this bad.”

“Whatever, enough about that. Wow, you really have long wavy hair. It's so pretty. Not only your hair though, but you also have pretty eyes too.” Her compliments brought up my mood and we ended up talking throughout the day since Miss Dorota didn't want to see my face.

Couldn't care less.
