Chapter 48

Darlington Briggs:

We went into the Restaurant and settled on the same table. Unlike at the company cafe where we had to sit apart.

I observed Amara's face as she stared around the Restaurant until our eyes met. The waitress came to take our order.

"What would you like to eat?" I asked Amara, and she stared at the menu and frowned a little.

"The meals are too expensive," she said.

"So, just pick one and stop acting local here," I said to Amara, and she finally ordered fried rice and meat.

"Hmm, bring the same for me too," I told the waitress who attended to us. After she left us, Amara said, "Isn't it better we eat at home? This is just a waste of money."

"It's my money. Let's not talk about this, and you should try not to embarrass me in public settings like this again," I said, looking at Amara. She frowned and looked away.

Soon, our meals arrived. The Restaurant was very large, and mostly the affluent people came here to have their special delicacies served.
