CHAPTER 16

BETTY’S POV

Slowly opening my eyes. My head ached. I turned and saw Drake by my side. He seemed happy that I was awake. I looked around as I tried to remember where I was.

Tears flowed down my face as I remembered Margaret's call, the hospital, my son. Maxwell!

“Max! Max! Where is Max?” I asked as I attempted to remove the drip from my hand.

“His is fine. He’s resting now.” Drake said.

I didn’t stop crying. The last thing I remembered was Drake telling me that Max would not make it out alive if he didn’t get an immediate blood transfusion.

Maxwell had a rare blood type, and it would be very hard to just get his blood anywhere. I would have to tell Ace about it, but I didn’t want to.

I listened as Margaret narrated how the incident happened. He had just returned from school and went out to play as usual while she trailed behind him, picking berries.
