Mystery man

Ember's POV

I froze when I saw that there was probably something wrong somewhere, my eyes were focused on the rescuer and before I knew what was happening, I had been plucked out of the way only for the wolf to ram into the wall.

I clung to the person holding me like a monkey would to a tree. It was a relief that I was able to find support. I turned to see the growling wolf. It had red eyes and a large tail, it was totally different from the kind of wolves that we were used to.

"Who sent you?" The man demanded.

His grip was still strong as he helped me. I would have had a problem with him holding me in my intimate area close to his. But I think that was the furthest thing in his mind.

Sadly, he was wearing a mask that I really wanted to pull off before remembering that he would be distracted and that would do me no good.

The wolf growled in response. It was angry but I wondered at what. For all I knew I didn't offend it.
