Disappearing Act

Ember's POV

I moved back when a hand clamped over my mouth, my first instinct was to make sure that I drove a harsh kick into the back of his knees so that the assailant would let me go but for the most part my body had become numb.

I threw all my weight in that direction and relished the groan that escaped his mouth.

"Hold your horses, lady. I'm the one who saved you earlier. Are you trying to kill me?" He replied and I smiled, before turning around to see the face of the mystery man. He was beautiful. That was the first thought that struck my mind.

"What are you doing here? I thought you were trying to keep an eye on my kids?" I whispered before turning to look around and seeing that a man was dragging them away.

"Let me go and attack that man."

"You're injured, Trent got this."

Well, I'd be damned if I left all the work to Trent. That man was fighting those mutts like his life depended on it.

"I can't stay here and watch them drag my kids away."
