The tension which was starting to rise in me since I woke up and found myself in shackles under Nikolai quickly began to clear as soon as my eyes met with Asher's. I sucked in a breath and tried not to let the relief show on my face and instead, keep distracting Nikolai so that Asher could get all the time to do whatever he had to do.

"Why are you doing this, Nikolai? I thought you and Asher were friends, he trusted you with his life and you chose to do this to him."

I was actually really surprised that Nikolai was doing this, despite all the trust Asher had in him.

"Why am I doing this?" Nikolai scoffed.

"It's because I'm pained, you moron." He fired at me.

"I hate the fact that Asher has always been the one to get all the good things. He is the Alpha while I was just his side dog who followed him around like a faithful servant." He fumed.

"And among all, he is cruel and wicked, while I clean up his messes. Do you know how tiring it is having to be the one to clean up th
