“You get me hard like a rock every time you do that.” He mumbled and caressed my skin underneath my shirt. The warmth from his hands soothed the cold on my skin, making me moan softly.

“Do what?” A whimper escaped my throat amidst my moaning.

“Challenge those who try to bully you.” He buried his head in my neck and sniffed it.

“You smell like wet sand—that earthy smell after a light summer rain. The rain is a gift to the earth, like you are a gift to me.”

What was he rumbling about? He didn’t have to say those to get me in bed with him. Didn’t he accept me as his mate because he didn’t want to object to the council's suggestion of us being mated without the council’s knowledge that we were fated mates? He must be acting up because of his emotions and his shooting hormones.

He retreated his tongue from my neck and brushed his nose on mine. His warm breath fell on my face. His woody scent of cedar sent warmth and calmness through my body. He sealed our lips firmly and kissed me
