Bonding moment

Kira's POV

I exhaled loudly, pushing the bed cover off me. My body felt heavy the moment my legs touched the floor. I haven't been out of the room for about two days, nobody came to check on me aside the maids who intend to clean the room or serve me my food. Ayla's whine is beginning to irritate me, I wouldn't blame her, though. It's been so long since she experienced any form of stretching. It's one of the things she can't resist doing.

“Alright, Ayla. I'm heading out now.” I said tiredly

Getting myself ready, I stepped out of the room, not bothering to exchange pleasantries with anyone I ran into. I didn't realize how much I missed the natural space until I shifted and ran through the woods like a free bird.

It's been precisely a week since my father, the Alpha of Blackstone pack, got buried. It still feels so surreal. I tried not to think of it, admitting he has gone to rest for good. He deserves the peaceful moment away from the ruckus of living.
