Chapter 1 The Scandals Around Him

Amelia Jenson clutched her marriage certificate tightly as she sat on the sofa of a large villa. Three years ago, she had agreed to marry Liam Prescott when she first met him.

She glanced at the familiar name on the papers. Liam Prescott. Yet, Amelia felt no happiness. Tears filled her eyes instead.

"Mr. Prescott, rumors have it that Ava Summers is your girlfriend. Any comments on that?"

"You said it yourself; it's a rumor. It cannot be taken as the truth."

Liam Prescott was on TV, being interviewed by the reporters. He had dashing looks, and he smiled at the woman in his arms. The reporters around him quickly snapped multiple shots, as if they could already envision the headlines.

"Mr. Prescott, since it's merely a rumor, can you explain your intimate relationship with Ava, then?"

Liam's faint smile immediately disappeared. His features turned cold.

"Do I need to explain myself to you?" His gaze was piercing.

His ruthless words left the reporter speechless. Ava laughed and defused the situation.

"I just work under Mr. Prescott. If anything, I think Mr. Prescott is being friendly because I'm new."

Ava was a renowned celebrity. Amelia recognized her from the news. Her name always appeared alongside Liam's.

She felt a sharp pang in her heart at that moment.

Ever since she heard of his entanglement with another woman from the maid, she had looked up his name online. That was when she became aware of Liam's womanizing ways.

It turned out that he was also the youngest tycoon in Bradbury, with multiple industries under his name.

And, of course, a renowned “bachelor”.

Women would do anything to be with him, even if it meant being a mistress. However, no one knew Liam was married.

Amelia had never thought that the man she married would hold such a status. Whenever she went online, she would come across news of his success or scandals.

Her grandmother had said she should be faithful to her husband after getting married, so she had patiently waited for him to come home. Then, she would greet him with a smile and fulfill her duties as a wife.

However, as time passed, she gradually grew tired of spending her days in an empty villa. She had to wait desperately, but all she received was news of his scandals. It only made her even more anxious.

Amelia thought Liam might have forgotten that he was married and that she was waiting for him at home. But he didn't, for he always returned home after work.

It was, therefore, safe to infer that their life together was incredibly dull. Because they had no feelings for each other, there was no need to argue.

Instead, their days were filled with bitterness. Only Liam's mocking words and indifferent glances could create ripples in Amelia's life.

There was a click as the door opened. Amelia quickly approached the door. As expected, Liam had returned home. She was overjoyed, although her heart remained somewhat uneasy.

Liam had never liked her, so he never seemed happy to see her. However, Amelia was willing to turn a blind eye and play the role of a good wife as long as he didn't blatantly bring another woman home.

Amelia carefully took his coat and hung it on the coat rack. "Have you eaten?" she asked. "I've made dinner. I'll bring it out now."

Liam ignored her question, and his gaze swept over the television in the living room. It was showing an interview of him with Ava, and they seemed very intimate.

He gave Amelia a discreet glance. His wife, on paper, looked embarrassed as she lowered her head. Faced with his indifference, she then forced a smile and headed toward the kitchen.

It was dinner time. They ate silently, with the TV in the background. Ava was speaking about Liam and using his name casually. They seemed very familiar.

Her voice from the TV pierced Amelia's ears. There was a pang in her heart. Liam paused and looked at her intensely.

"Don't you have any questions?"
