Chapter 5

Samantha Downs ~

“Three months, Sam. Three months.” with his American accent putting emphasis on every word.”

“... You are free to stay and have dinner with me though.” Jaden offfered and from where I stood, I could feel his breath on my neck.

He is right behind me.

Jaden walked to the door and the men there gave way for him. He opened the door eyes glued on Sam but she didn’t look at him.

She just walked out.

“You,” Jaden called out pointing to one of the duo. “Get her back home and give her a three-hundred thousand dollar cheque. Tell her it’s for her wardrobe change. And bag her up too. Until I can trust her, I can't risk having her know her way here.”

“Yes, boss.” The man left to get to Sam and he led her back to the SUV.

Sam didn’t resist this time. Not that she did trust them but she wasn’t going to knowing that would just make things harder for herself. She knew the SUV would surely take her back to her home even though they told her that she'll be bagged.

“You,” Jaden called another as he took off his coat. “Bring a Class A slut to my chambers from the club. This is going to be a long night.”

The SUV drove off to Sam’s house and she got off with the files in her hands.

“Wait!” a voice said to her making her stop before she hesitantly turned to the direction of the voice.

“What else? It’s already late just let me go in and catch what remains of the night.” Sam said in an angered tone.

“From the boss.” The man said turning to me stretching out his hand with an envelope in his hand . “He wants you to have this. It’s for a wardrobe change. You’re now a secretary, aren’t you? You should at least look the sexy part.” the man added with a wink.

I took the envelope from him and without turning back, I walked straight for the front door. I don’t care if that man or the SUV were still there. Nothing on earth is going to make me turn back.

I opened the front door and walked in slamming it hard behind me. I knew that could ruin the door but I just had to take my anger out somewhere and the door happened to be the perfect prey.

I feel so bad. Because of a deal with that Mafia Lord, I’m going to lose my parents, both of them at his behest. The chances of that CEO falling in love with someone like me is very slim.

How am I going to explain this to my fiancée?

How am I going to tell him that I pulled down my job as a body model just so I could be a secretary for a high class billionaire? It would seem very fishy because he knows how much I want to fulfil that dream of mine and I am already so close to doing that.

I fell to the ground and clutched my knees to myself and before I knew what was going to happen next, I began crying silent tears. I am just a middle class citizen. How on earth am I going to compete with his wealth?

How on earth am I going to deal with the fact that he may be engaged or in a relationship with someone else? How? What would I do then?

I pulled myself together after some few minutes and cleaned my cheeks dry. I stood up and went upstairs to my room holding on to the files. I looked in the mirror and saw my reflection.

… “Your looks, especially your curves are good enough to put him on his knees…” Jaden’s statement flashed into my head.

Many at times, I’ve gotten admiring stares from so many men. I know why but it’s time to put my good looks to good use. I’ve read enough books to know what exactly, fake romance is and it’s about time I put all that knowledge into stealing Nathan’s heart.

I dropped all the files and even the envelope on my bed and got down to the dining room.

“It’s just me now! Probably for the next three months. I promise you mom and dad, I’ll do whatever is necessary to bring you back.” “By the time I’m done with Nathan, his heart would be beating for me and me alone.” I said before I covered the casseroles of my mom and dad and placed them in the refrigerator.

I put mine in the oven to heat it up a bit. It is 8:11PM and that’s already late but I have to go through those files and whatever is in that envelope before I go to bed. The casserole in time was all warmed up and with what little appetite I have, I’ll eat it.

I carried it up to my room after I had put off the lights and locked the windows and sealed the doors shut. I placed it on my bed and went for my phone that I had left to charge since before dinner.

I swiped it open and went for the GoodNovel app. I enjoy the books there very much. They pull me out of my reality into a much happier world or should I say worlds. I continued reading my favorite book yet. SAVED BY THE CEO by Ulric Efukor.

I was reading the thirty-sixth chapter when my eyes captured one end of the envelope and recalling that it was given to me by Jaden for a wardrobe change, I suspected that it could contain some money. Out of the blue, I opened it but it wasn’t cash that’s in there.

It’s a cheque leaflet.

“Three hundred thousand dollars!” My eyes widened at the sight of such a handsome cheque. “This must be a dream. There’s no way that someone would give me such a large sum for a wardrobe change. Is he expecting me to buy the entire mall?” I soliloquized,

“Jaden must be really anxious for that info and must also be as wealthy as he said he is.” I said still trying to understand how I am holding such a cheque that was given by a Mafia Lord to me.

There must be more power and wealth possessed by Jaden than what meets the eyes.
