Chapter Forty

I sat at the bar nursing my glass of water when someone slipped into the seat beside me but I didn't turn to look at the person. It was definitely a woman judging by the perfume but it was a perfume I knew all too well.

"Hello Sir. Long time no see." Barbara shot me a seductive smile.

I glanced at Barbara and really couldn't recognise her because of the heavy makeup she had on and the barely there red dress she was wearing. I looked away immediately. If I stared too long - not in admiration but in disgust - she'd think I was into her too.

"Hello Barbara." I said. "What brings you here?".

"I came clubbing with my girls but then I saw your profile and I decided to come and see if it's really you." Barbara replied. "What are you doing here yourself?".

"Nothing."

"You're in a bar and you're drinking water?". She scoffed then raised her hand to call the bartender. "That's unlike you sir."
