Chapter 43
The sun was out now, bright and scorching with no trace of the heavy rain that pelted down hour s before. Ivy and Amy found a shade under the shadows cast by a huge tree. They sat at the foot of the tree and took a sip of the water they had brought along. They poured some of it over their heads to cool their temperature.
"We've gone to the lakes in the Nile pack. From what I know, they only have two of those. There is no one that fits the description of the place your parents talked about." Amy said, and sighed. They had been walking for quite a while.
"It was such a long time ago. I'm pretty sure the place would look quite different now. The lake is supposed to be small and clear and surrounded by an endless trail of tulips and wild flowers. I'm sure it'll still be the same because it's close to the water. The flowers would thrive in such an environment."
"Then, we have to keep looking. We might find something."
"We've spent a lot of ti
Chapter 44Ivy stood in the garden and stared Into nothingness. The scent of the flowers relaxed her and reminded her of the times she played at the garden in their backyard when she was little. The parents she knew and loved were killed wrongly and the ones she had never met left her before she could even recognize them. So, she was truly alone in this world. Deep down, she wanted to meet her parents. She was angry at them and would probably have hated them for a while but at least, knowing them or just seeing them would have made a difference. Now, she didn't have the opportunity to. They were gone. But what if the woman was lying to her? What if she was sent by someone to steal the book? No one knew she had it yet, and no one else knew anything about where she was found as a baby. Maybe she was worth trusting, or at least she was worth the risk."Ivy, are you still upset?" Bruce asked from behind her. She was too lost in her thoughts to hear him come in. "I didn't mean to snap at y
Chapter 45Marco threw the glass in anger and watched it shatter as it hit the ground. He had just finished talking with his father and his response was the same. "Soon."He knew what his father was thinking and it angered him even more that he was so relunctant to give his son the chance to lead the pack."That greedy man!" He yelled, the veins in his throat popping out."Of course he's greedy. He's your father." Evelyn said in mockery. Marco was not having it. He spun and held her throat in a choke hold and lifted her up, slamming her back on the wall. "What did you say?" He whispered, breathing down her neck. "Let go of me!" She screamed. "If you sit around waiting for your father to finally announce you as the Alpha, I promise you you'll wait until you have grey hair! Do something!"He let go of her and she crumbled on the floor with a thud. She stood up, her hands caressing her bruise. "You know I'm right. He keeps pushing the day forward because he hasn't given up on his search
Chapter 46Ivy closed her eyes and tried again. She needed to reach Keisha via a wolf's mind link but she couldn't seem to focus. Maybe she wouldn't be able to do it. Back then, it was nanny May who had called out to her and not the other way around. But Bruce wouldn't let her give up. "I know you can do it Ivy, take a deep breath, focus and picture the woman you're trying to reach in your mind. Make sure you can see her clearly, then let Lana take over. She'll help you find Keisha.Ivy shut her eyes and took a deep breath. Her mind went back to the previous day when she had met Keisha by the lake. Her image formed clearly in her mind and she whispered to Lana, her wolf to make a connection with her.Suddenly, it felt as if she had been transported somewhere else. She could see Keisha in her mind's eye, but they were no longer at the lake. She could see where she lived and it was like her presence floated in the room."Keisha?" She called, unsure if she had succeeded in making the con
Chapter 47TWENTY YEARS AGO.Heavy footsteps sounded in the darkness and whistles accompanied by shouts of "Don't lose them!" rented the air, breaking the silence and stillness of the night. An owl hooted softly in the distance and creeping animals rustled the leaves as they crawled.Rapid breathing and faint sobs came from behind the tree where Keisha hid, baby in hand. It was such a a horrible night yet she couldn't dare to shed any tear. She had to fight back the tears and keep her mind alert and focused. She didn't have the time to dwell on the thought that her Alpha was lying Dead somewhere in the woods and his Luna had run in the other direction to distract their pursuers so she could have the chance to escape with the child. No! She couldn't remember her family that had been murdered in cold blood by Anika and her packs of rebellious witches and rogues. She had come looking for the child who had caused the book to appear again, the book that would finally grant her the powers o
Chapter 48THE PRESENT.The four of them sat at the table in absolute silence. To say they were shocked would be an understatement. Ivy's nails dug into her palm and she nervously tapped on the table with her fingers.Keisha had told them everything. She knew who she was now and everything about her past. Alpha Aiden was her father and he had died trying to protect her. She hadn't even had any time to be loved by them. They died when she was only fourteen days old."So, you aren't a lowly Omega after all. My father knew your parents. They'd done business together a few times." Bruce said, breaking the silence. "After the death of your parents, I know that crescent moon pack took over the leadership of the pack. There was no structure after the massacre as everyone who led were killed."Ivy looked up from the table where her eyes had been fixated. "So, Regal pack is no more?""That's not entirely true. After the massacre, some wolves in Regal pack went rogue, refusing to be under crese
Chapter 49"Do you think we should tell Gamma Rose about all of this?" Amy asked as they arrived at the training facility and spotted her from a distance. "She looks like she can handle it, plus, we'll need her when the time comes, you know, during the war..""War?" Ivy asked amidst restrained laughter. "There's not going to be a war. I won't let her kill innocent people anymore. I'll train hard until I can defeat her.""I know you will, but you can't do it all by yourself. We'll need all the help we can get. If we get hurt while fighting her and her goons, it doesn't matter because we can Sacrifice that much for the people we care about. We'll be fine."Ivy nodded and turned to look at Rose. She was a strong female and was always so determined to make sure her trainees got better. It was obvious she loved her job. "Maybe I'll tell her, but not right now. I don't know where her heart is, you know, as far as witches are concerned. I know she'll be loyal to her Alpha and to the pack, bu
Chapter 50The trip down from the desk to the other side of the table was a long and embarrassing one. Bruce had returned to his seat, the report he was studying in front of him. He completely ignored her like she was invisible and it hurt her even more. How long had he known about her affair with Adam? Why hadn't he confronted her then? Cassandra adjusted her dress and tapped on the desk to get his attention."You knew about Adam and I and yet you said nothing?" She inquired, trying to keep the hurt from her voice."It's none of my business who you fuck or screw around with. I couldn't care less." He replied coldly, not looking at her. Cassandra pushed the files off the table and screamed at him to look her in the eyes while spewing his nonsense. How could he not care? They were going to be married! They had been together for almost two years!Bruce got up on his feet and dragged her to the door. "I am not in the mood to argue with you Sandy, I've got a lot on my mind already. Don't
Chapter 51"Are you sure you'll be okay by yourself? I can come with you if you want." Bruce said, stroking his mate's hair. She was tense, he could see it. She hadn't been able to sit down since she mind linked Keisha, asking her to come over and take her to the witch, Athena. She had made up her mind to begin the training. She wasn't quite sure if she really was who they said she was, because her whole life had been a series of heartaches and let down. She was the weakest Omega anyone had seen and now, in the blink of an eye, she was supposed to be the strongest creature to ever exist, besides the moon goddess and gods of course."I'll be fine." Ivy replied after taking a deep breath. "If everything she says is true, then the barrier really cannot hold any longer. If the spell is broken and I get my powers back and am able to unlock the secrets of the book, Anika might get the better of me because I'm not ready or trained enough. I have to put aside my fears and train hard for this.
