Chapter 45

“What's going on?” Hilda rushed towards me, glancing between me and Karla's retreating back.

“She's crazy,” I shook my head, waving her off.

I tried to walk away but she grabbed my upper arm, making me halt in my tracks.

“No,” she said and seriousness dripped from her voice. “Beware of Karla. She's not as innocent as she looks,” she warned me.

I sighed and placed my hand over hers.

“I'll be fine, Hilda. Don't worry,” I assured her.

She looked at me skeptically for a few seconds before letting go of my hand.

Not wanting to hear anything further about Karla, I walked straight to the kitchen to fix my breakfast.

I already had a lot on my plate to worry about someone of zero importance.

I got to the kitchen and fixed up a very quick breakfast and soon, I was done scarfing down the food.

“Shit,” I muttered under my breath as a thought crossed my mind.

Rinsing my plate off, I ran back upstairs and didn't stop until my new room came in view.
