Chapter 53

A little while after she left, the wind picked up and the strong feeling of being watched enveloped me and goosebumps rose on my skin.

I scanned the whole area quickly and saw I was alone but I didn't stop feeling that way and I couldn't tell if it was paranoia from what Candice told me.

Not wanting to wait and find out if someone was actually lurking in the shadows or not, I stood up and limped into the house.

I wasn't scared but I knew if it boiled down to a fight, I would lose squarely and it would be stupid to stay and find out.

As soon as I entered the house, my stomach churned in hunger and every other thought in my mind came to a halt.

I walked into the kitchen and fixed a quick breakfast and immediately as I was done eating, the thoughts came rushing back to me.

Maybe I should talk to Candice again.

She probably knows something.

Or maybe she doesn't and is just traumatized by the death of her sister and thinks everyone is a culprit.
