Chapter 14: The Rumors

Two days have passed, and my life here has been great—better than the one I had in the Williams family by a hundredfold. There’s really not much that I do. I just watch TV in my room, do my own chores, walk in the garden, and talk with Liliana. I will be lying, however, if I say that I’m entirely happy in this house. I smell Kairo’s scent everywhere, but he’s nowhere to be seen. He’s so near yet so far. 

It was a new morning, so I went down to the kitchen and whipped myself up some pancakes. I made a couple of extra pieces and covered them, just in case the pack children would want to have something sweet in the morning. I placed a sticky note on the lid that read, “pancakes” then left the kitchen to eat mine. I was happy to see that I was the only one in the dining room. I still wasn’t used to the people here in the pack.

I f this book is all about the ugly things people do to each other then I will quit reading it at the end of this chapter. I have seen enough of that in Real Life. I read for facts or fun. This isn't fun yet.
