Chapter Fifty Five

Frustration welled up within me at the way he made light of the situation. His laughter persisted, leaving me feeling indignant about my vulnerability. Unable to bear it any longer, I stood up, ready to storm out of his office.

Seeing my irritation, he hurriedly stood up and came to my side. "Okay, okay, I'm sorry," he apologized, his tone a mix of sincerity and regret. "I didn't mean to laugh at you. But come on, go on, you had a wet dream?"

I shot him a skeptical look, trying to decipher his intentions. "Yes," I replied curtly.

His curiosity getting the better of him, he trailed off, "Was it about you and..."

Growing angrier, I attempted to distance myself, but I reluctantly responded, "Who else? Use your imagination."

He seemed to register the shift in my mood and the intensity of my response. His playful demeanor faded, replaced by a more serious expression. "I genuinely didn't mean to upset you," he said, a hint of regret coloring his voice.
