Chapter Forty Five

JOSH POV

I couldn't tear my eyes away from Ava as she left the bar. I'm a wreck; my days consist of drowning my sorrows in alcohol, releasing my pent-up anger at the gym, and pretending everything's fine at work.

Everywhere I look, I'm haunted by memories of her, even at my job where I can't help but check on her.

I've been avoiding their office building since I'm in a different one.

I quickly packed my belongings and rushed out; I had a crucial meeting to attend.

My driver was ready to take me for a drive. As soon as I reached the car, Mr. Chris kindly opened the door for me.

"Good morning, sir," he greeted.

"Good morning, Chris. How are you?"

He glanced at me with a hint of worry but still answered, "I'm good, sir."

I sensed that he had something on his mind, but I chose not to allow him to broach the subject.

"Let's head to the office," I instructed while checking my phone.

"Ok, sir," he replied and started the car's engine.

As we headed towards the office, the city slowly stirred
