Chapter Forty Eight

Ava gazed in the direction I pointed and exclaimed, "Josh, what are you going to do now?" She asked me, looking concerned.

"Seriously, Ava, I don't know. Seeing him brings back memories, I can't tell what's running through his mind."

My heart quickened as he started to sing "Someone Like You" by Adele, pouring his emotions into the lyrics.

As Josh's voice filled the room, I couldn't tear my gaze away from the haunting emotions I had tried to suppress.

"I felt a mix of nostalgia and sadness. Our eyes finally met, and subtle emotions passed between us, my heart pounding hard in my chest like my rib cage threatened to burst out.

I was moved by the vulnerability in Josh's voice, a reflection of the emotions he couldn't say in words.

Axel came by to sit beside me with a gleam on his face and whispered, "Do you like my surprise?"
