Chapter Forty Seven

When Axel quickly stood up to answer his phone, I watched him go. He moved far enough away that I couldn't hear what he was saying.

Amelia looked at me and asked, "How are you?"

I could tell she was worried about me. But honestly, deciding to come out today was better than staying home and feeling sad about Josh.

I smiled and said, "I'm good, Amelia. Being out today feels better than being at home and crying over Josh." It feels like I was taking a step away from the sad memories.

Amelia playfully wiggled her eyes and inquired, "How well do you know that hottie?"

Pretending ignorance, I responded, "Who?"

She shot me a look that said, "Don't play games," but still answered, "Axel, of course."

"Oh, Axel. I just met him today. He was sitting over there," I gestured to his previous spot before he approached me and asked if he could join.

"He's handsome. Those neat and sexy beards! I've always found bearded guys attractive," she remarked with a wink.
