Chapter 019

Christina’s POV

Aunt Eunice’s eyes met mine and I saw the knowing look in them and it made me bow my head in mortification as my gaze fell to the floor. My heart was still palpitating wildly and I was still heaving from what had almost happened.

He was so close, I could smell his minty breath and the scent of his cologne dominated my nostrils. Somehow, it soothed me and my gaze was fixed on his intense icy orbs as though I was in a trance and I couldn’t bear to look away from him. If his aunt hadn’t interrupted when she did, I had no doubts his lips would have been on mine and I could have let him kiss me.

That was the most devastating part. I could have let my guard down and let him kiss me. This realisation was alarming and it had my heart beating fast. It felt as though for a moment, I forgot the circumstances of our relationship, and it was like all that had happened between us was only a faraway memory.
