According to George, it was ‘bring your wife to work day’.

He told me he didn’t want me to be alone at home, but I was certain it was because he wanted company. I’d thought George was doing fine, but he was just doing a great job at pretending to be fine.

When I woke up at night, I saw him going through an online shop on his laptop; a shop that sold baby items. I wasn’t certain I saw clearly, but I thought I saw a tear slip down his cheeks.

Unfortunately, he noticed I was awake and quickly closed the tab. I asked him if he was okay. He smiled and returned the question before we went back to sleep. I was worried but he didn’t give me the chance to ask about it so I couldn’t.

George and I came to a stop in front of his secretary with his hand wrapped around my waist.

“Good morning, sir.” She stood up to greet him when she saw him in front of her. “Good morning, ma’am.”
