81. A spy

Abigail Hayes

~•~

I was taken aback by the silver metal resting inside the drawer. Was it a toy gun? But what the hell would he be doing with a toy in the first place? He wasn’t the kind of man to keep toys.

But I also didn’t think he was the kind of man to keep guns!

I tried to rack my brain to think of a good reason he’d have a gun but nothing came up. He was such a workaholic and spent most of his time in the office that he didn’t have the time to work another job. Was he a secret spy?

I quickly placed the gun back in the drawer and locked it, dropping the keys on the table. I didn’t think I could face George anymore. I was bad at lying and it would be obvious I was uncomfortable around him. He would ask me what was wrong and I would end up blurting what I saw. Who knew if he’d have to kill me then?
