TC Ch42- “Our Son”

“I am already attached to this place.” Mariane winced as she realized how lame her excuse was.

“Lame excuse,” David commented.

“I have debts to George,” she reasoned again.

David looked at her with his brow raised in disbelief, “I can pay him. How much is it?” he asked.

“I owe him my life,” she answered.

“I can spare his life, in exchange for yours, plus I will pay him with money and a business for the interest.”

Mariane shrugged… As she loses her reasons for why she couldn’t leave the country.

Mariane bit her lower lip as she wanted to stop herself from saying the real reason why she didn’t want to go with him. ‘What else I will reason out, for him to stop pestering me?’ she wondered.

“I don’t like you,” she said.

“I know you were and you still are. You liked me back then,”

Mariane sneered. “That was before. But now… I have no feelings for you other than hating you!”

He looked at her with skepticism. “Oh, really?” he mocked. “I won’t buy it.”
