CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE
“Eliza, where are we going?” Eliza just smiled at her before she continued dragging her to the front porch.
It’s already late at night and she should be resting because it is her wedding day tomorrow. Maddie thought that it will take a while before they will get married, especially after their misunderstanding. However, the next day, Eliza gave her the news that their nuptial will be the following day. It was sudden but Maddie didn’t care. All she wants now is to marry Theo. She wants him to be her husband already.

Maddie took a deep breath but it was no use. She’s still having a hard time controlling her breathing as she’s too nervous. Eliza helps her calm down by giving her an assuring smile. Maddie kept looking at herself in the mirror. She feels nauseous just by merely thinking about what's going to happen in a few while. She took a deep breath while shaking her hands as they kept on shaking. Maddie's nervous, super nervous that she thinks she wilo faint any moment now. She and Theo will share their first night together and it is her first time. She's afraid of what she's going to do and feel. Maddie's not innocent about it so all the knowledge she knows is what's making her worry. A knock disturbed her from overthinking and knowing well that it's Theo, made her heart skip a beat. Maddie missed again and slashed the curtain. Despite the confusion, Theo was still quick in dodging Maddie’s attempt to kill him. He stood on the other side of the room, naked and bewildered about what was happening. “Put the dagger down, Maddie. Let us talk this through.” Theo said calmly but Maddie is nowhere near calm. He can feel her anger and what’s worse is that he couldn’t understand why. They were happy, or so he thought. “There’s no need to talk, Theo. What needs to be done here is to end you.” Her voice is filled with so much hatred that Theo forgot she was the woman he loves. It feels like another woman is standing in front of him. “What is wrong, Maddie? Did I do something to upset you?” Theo is still calm as he is trying to understand the situation, his wife. The world stopped moving when a beaming light in the middle of the road appeared. A man came out from the light and he looked around. He was not even surprised that no one’s moving, even the wind can’t be felt. The man went to the side of the road and as soon as he snapped his fingers, everything went back to normal as if it didn’t stop functioning for a few seconds. Theo tossed and turned in his bed for hours but he was unable to sleep. He sat out of frustration then pulled his shoulder-length hair. Theo groaned before he decided to take a swim at the lake behind his palace. He stripped naked then he swam until he was in the middle of the lake. He wiped his face using his hand before he looked above. The two moons next to each other are glistening that contrast the dark blue sky. He sighed hashly before letting himself sink in the deep and pitch-black water. Theo is restless because Madeline is disturbing his peace. She kept visiting his thoughts and he couldn't help but to entertain the possibility of being with her. He wanted it to come true but even if he’s the highest and most respected god, he’s powerless when it comes to that.
The Last Flame CHAPTER THREE
Maddie yawned when the customer left. She hasn't gotten a good sleep because she’s constantly waking up. She feels that someone is with her in her room but she can’t see anything. She wanted to think that she’s just being paranoid but her gut feel tells her that what she’s thinking is real. Theo sat in his usual spot with a newspaper in his hands which he can use to cover his face if ever Maddie looked at his place. He feels guilty seeing Maddie tired for not getting enough sleep. He couldn’t help himself but to watch Maddie rest. It’s the only time he can be close to her. Maddie felt she’s being watched again so she looked around but no one had direct attention to her. She shook her head before she tried to focus. ‘It’s just in your mind, Maddie.’ sh
The Last Flame CHAPTER FOUR
"I knew it. It was just a dream." Maddie muttered as soon as she woke up. She sat and looked around but there was no sign that what happened last night was real. Maddie quickly shook her head to clear her thoughts. She quickly went to the bathroom to prepare for her work but she cannot help but to think of Theo. He looks sincere but what he said was just unbelievable, especially the part when he said that he loves her. “Hi, Maddie.” Maddie looked at the man who was walking beside her. She sighed before looking ahead and tried not to mind Liam. Maddie almost groaned in frustration when Liam walked backwards just to look at her and give her one of his annoying smiles. She’s blatantly rejecting him but Liam is just persistent.

Theo kept pacing with Jonah just watching him. A day has passed but Maddie hasn't woken up yet. Flora, the goddess of healing and childbirth, had already assured Theo that Maddie is just fine and needs some rest but he is still uneasy. "Have you found Felix?" Theo faced Jonah and he quickly stood. "Philip and Samuel and some of the soldiers have been hunting him down. Do not worry, Theo. They will find him." Jonah patted his shoulder but Theo just shrugged it away and walked towards the window. "And if they don't, I will hunt him myself and end his pathetic life with my bare hands."
