Chapter 1
Adeline’s POV:2 years ago, 2015Monday mornings are the worst, it’s the only day which is disliked by students as deadlines are the most common, the longest lectures are on a Monday, no parking. And the list goes on, I can name a few more but I’m pretty sure I would have a panic attack right now just by remembering it. Bleh. I call this PTSDFFLS - post traumatic stress disorder for foolish Law students. Perfect right?Everyone strolls into the lecture hall with no energy at all, either they drank and partied to their hearts content, studied like a good student would all night, or alternatively they might have fucked like rabbits - ahem I fall into that category. So it’s a Friday evening now and I’m more energetic than ever, I usually go home every Friday to spend the weekend with my family on Fridays and Saturday and on Sundays with my boyfriend Axel. It’s our 3rd year anniversary since he asked me to be his girlfriend so I decided to surprise him tonight. He thinks I’m spending ton

Two years ago… 2015Adam’s POVWhat is home? Home for me is not four walls and a ceiling. Home for me is the love of my life Aria. It’s been six years we’ve been together. How we met? In university, first year medicine to be exact. She caught my attention when she first tripped over my legs causing her nose to start bleeding and blame my so called “long legs” Since then Aria and me started spending more time together, mostly doing our lecture work together and doing weird couple shit she loves, like matching clothes, or screaming in harry styles concert lyrics I don’t even know of - I mean I don’t even know what Aria loves about this singer but I’m happy if she’s happy. So what I’m saying is… I do really love her. So I’m proposing to her in two hours.Super duper nervous but be cool because she doesn’t like seeing me nervous or scared. So how do I introduce myself to her parentsHi? I’m Adam Grayson, 6”2 uhh… I love studying… yeah. I’m a geek. Anyways Aria doesn’t seem to mind me

Chapter 3
Present day2 years later, in 2017Adeline’s POV:I awoke suddenly with a distasteful sensation. The domino effect of first seeing where I am; home? Check. What’s that awful smell; alcohol breath? Check. That toe curing sensation; migraine. Lavishing, amazing, lovely! I would say I would never go within a 5-meter diameter with alcohol but who am I kidding, I’ve said that since freshman year in university.I would say it's a coping mechanism for most students, especially law students who feel like they had a small nuclear attack inside of their brains so there needs to be alcohol to ensure a destination because if I'm being honest at this point I would be lost if I didn't have a Sunday night wild party. So yes it's a Monday afternoon now so I get up and the first thing I do is to go flopping towards the bathroom trying to fit in my other slipper at the same time. I'm very surprised mum or dad didn't run in here complaining about the same thing over and over again, and it's the latest

Adam’s POV:Beep beep beep. What is that annoying noise?Beep beep beep. This better be important, otherwise whoever is calling me on this bloody phone is looking for death.Oh. It’s dad. I answered the call while still half asleep. “What’s up dad? Why call at this unholy hour” I can practically imagine how he’s glaring at the phone “unholy? Son it’s 4pm. Don’t tell me you’re spending your university days off hooking up with girls.”I chuckle, and then roll over to my left and see a woman’s body veiled with the comforter. Her vanilla skin illuminated under the darkness of the room, her back faces me but I know by her uneven breathing she’s awake but pretending to sleep. Is she waiting to see if I kick her out? Come on, I'm not that heartless.“Dad, what else would I be doing, you know me too well.” I stretch and get out of bed, I put on my glasses, and put on my bathrobe. “As you said I have 3 weeks off so I also need to catch up on leisure time and satisfy my desires.” I pause and

Adeline’s POVIt's been two weeks since the topic of marriage was laid out on the table and since then it's been quite hectic in the Carter household. There's been an obvious change in the atmosphere like everyone is walking on eggshells around me. I know they are being very cautious with words especially prohibited words, like Axel...I stare out of the window in the lecture hall and breathe out a sigh... A bit too loud... Wait. Oh crap the mic is on. Squeezing my eyes shut and then opening them again, I look around pretending like I wasn't the one who did that and just when I thought my plan would be a success, I take a second glance and see everyone staring, at me. Even the professor.“Miss Carter, you have something to say? You let out quite a sigh, I'm sorry do you find my lessons boring?”Great, now I've been put on the spot. Silly me I didn't even know this mic existed, imagine I said something else like the professor has a nice booty- uhh I mean... Anyways...I stand up, “sor

Adeline’s POV The sun started setting by the time I reached home, I pull up to my driveway and turn off the ignition. I let out a sigh feeling anxious. I know once I step foot in the house mum and dad would begin the whole conversation of the whole marriage ideal. I mentally pull up my big girl socks and hop off the car and wiggle my hips in an attempt to brush off the slight pain from the fall because of a certain Mr arrogant and handsome who has a beautiful body but a questionable attitude. Anyways I shut the car door and walk towards the main entrance. The doormen greet me and open the door for me, to which I gave my recognition to them for doing their job. By the time I got to my room I was pulled to the side by my mother to which I gave her a look of confusion, she looked back at me with what looked like worry and sympathy in her eyes. “Mom, is everything okay? Why are you giving me that look?”The only reaction I get is a tut as she shakes her head “oh sweetheart, we are only t

Adeline’s POVSeveral days later…As I stepped into our grand dinner hall, my heart raced with anticipation. The soft glow of candlelight danced across the ornate walls, casting intricate patterns onto the polished marble floors. My parents had spared no expense in preparing for this evening, determined to make a favorable impression on our future in-laws.I smoothed down the delicate fabric of my gown, a vision of ivory silk and intricate lace that had been painstakingly tailored for this moment. The corseted bodice hugged my figure, while the full skirts swirled around my ankles with every step. It was a gown fit for a princess, or so my mother had insisted, and yet, as I looked into the mirror, I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at my stomach."Adeline, darling, you look positively radiant," my mother gushed, her eyes shining with pride as she adjusted the pearls around my neck. "You're going to make a lovely impression on the Graysons."I managed a tight-lipped smi
