I felt safe

As Serena lay in bed staring up at the ceiling, she felt content. It didn't matter how hard she tried to ignore the butterflies in her stomach or the way that her body ached from lack of movement. She felt safe here.

This was where she belonged and she was perfectly content with that. As far as she was concerned, she would never leave his side. She was beginning to realise that it was exactly what she had been waiting for.
