05~ Meeting The CEO

Regina Campbell sat in the waiting room while going through her phone, asking Daphne if she would be free to pick Mirabella up from school later in the day. She waited for Daphne's response when she noticed she was typing but got interrupted by Daniel.

"There might be a delay with the interview. The Boss is doing his introduction in the meeting. You could wait right?"

"Mmh. Thanks" Regina smile , rubbing her two hands together nervously.

"I understand how nervous you are. Everyone is too, but don't worry. Hopefully it won't be as hard as it might seem. I'm off now, I'll inform you when he requests for you."

While Regina watched Daniel go off, she couldn't wash off the feeling of nervously, most especially seeing how everyone was panicking. She went back to her phone, with the idea to keep herself busy until whoever the CEO was had settled.

Seconds passed, Minutes and then two hours later , Regina was invited into the office. When she walked in, she met a man in a suit who was slightly backing the door and was on his phone, sounding frustrated over the call.

She stood still, not wanting to be disrespectful by sitting down without his permission.

"Fuck!" He cussed throwing his phone on the table , freaking Regina out who stared at her feet. This was going well -- she had thought.

"I'm sorry about that. Have a seat!" This time, Regina looked up to stare at the supposed CEO and for the next couple of minutes she was shocked and beyond words. How was it possible that her Boss is no other than the Man she had screamed at for mistakenly hitting her daughter with his car? The same man she had denied to check up on them.

Hills Sabastian looked up at her, noticing the delay in her sitting and then he recognized her. The woman he had met earlier.

"Uhm... Are you going to sit or not?" He said, waving at her and bringing her back from her thoughts.

Regina knew there was no need to continue with the job interview, who would want to employ the same lady that was rude to them!? Somehow, Regina tried to justify her action that she was only in a panic state. She slowly sat down , unable to look Mr Hills in the face.

"I see you recognize me. How's your little girl doing? The doctor said you had your number deleted cause you didn't want me to contact you."

Regina bit her lower lips. "I'm sorry we started off on the wrong foot. I thought you were ---" Mr Hills cut her short.

"So you wanted the assistant position. Let me see..." He opens her file and starts going through it, while humming slowly. The tension was hot and Regina couldn't help but feel so guilty.

"Sir. I'll understand if you don't want to give me the Job because of how I talked to you earlier... I'm not actually like that but I was in panic and not with my senses at that time."

Mr Hills Chuckles.

"A divorcee ----" he read out and finally took his eyes off the paper to look at her.

A day ago, Mr Hills Sabastian had requested to see the files of the people applying for the assistant position. Concerning he was making his official appearance in his company, Colin had suggested that he be the one to employ his assistant and not allow the team to do so. While going through the 20 profiles that were submitted, Hills had seen a familiar face, the mother of the little girl his car had knocked down.

"Colin -- could you look up this profile for me?"

"Why, do you know her?" Colin had asked, seeing it weird that he wanted for a profile to be data searched.

"Mmh. We met her yesterday, the lady that was rude to me."

"Oh. Mirabelle's Mother?"

Colin had proceeded to look it up and was able to deliver some information that wasn't in Regina's Resume. Giving Hills every information he had needed. "You could tell the team to dismiss other applicants." He said almost immediately he had gone through the file.

Looking up at Regina who was picking her fingers nervously, Hills removed his glasses, rubbing his eyes in the process and now focused on Regina.

"Your resume said you have never worked as an assistant before, what made you think you could do a good job?"

"Because --- " Again, Hills cut her short by making a phone call, when he got off the phone he turned to Regina.

"You can go to your referral -- Daniel and ask him for your contract. The position is yours."

"Umh..." Regina was short of words.

The truth? When she realized who he was, Regina knew it was over for her and there's absolutely no way she's getting any position in the company. But here she is, being told that she had secured a position.

Does he have something else in mind? Regina thought that maybe he had decided to give her the job and punish her after, or perhaps he didn't even care? She wanted to ask, question him on why he gave her the job despite how they had started off. But her tongue was suddenly too tired to say anything. She just stared down.

"Thank you sir. I'll do my best." She managed to say much later, standing up. Mr Hills eyes was back on the files on his desk, ignoring Regina who walked out of the door while holding her heart on her hand.

Definitely, she knew her stay at this company has a long way to go because what had she done. Regina met Daniel on the stairway and he smiled at her. "You don't look happy? , You didn't get the position?"

Regina smiled tiredly. "I did. I was asked to meet you for my contract". Regina and Daniel chatted their way down to Daniel's office.

Back at Mr Hill's office after Regina had left, he received a phone call that took the smile on his face away, slowly he picked it up after much hesitation.

"What do you want?"
