I nodded shyly, feeling even more bashful when he chuckled and kissed my hair. "Not now, though," he continued, "you're too weak. We need you to regain your strength quickly because Mom wants to start the wedding preparations in full swing!"

His expression made me laugh, and Jasper took my tray to the kitchen before returning to bed to hold me. "Jasper, you shouldn't be near me. You'll catch the infection too!" I protested.

"I don't care," he replied, "I want to be near you."

Feeling a mixture of happiness and weakness, I smiled as Jasper massaged my throbbing head, and I soon drifted off to sleep. When I awoke, Jasper was still beside me, massaging my head. I checked the time and was surprised to find that he had been doing it for over an hour.

"Jasper!" I croaked, my voice still raspy from sleep and flu. "You don't have to keep going. You could have stopped when I fell asleep."

"I wanted you to wake up without a headache," he replied sadly, pulling me in for a tight hug. I felt tear
