2.|| He’s my mate.

Lilliana’s POV

My eyes opened and an angry looking man stood in front of me, his brows drew together in an angry frown as he stared at me intently.

His cold grey eyes sent jolts of electricity down my spine. His face was bronze and he looked so tan, the set of his chin suggested a stubborn streak as his jaw tensed visibly.

His classically handsome features made me feel like I was in a dream because there was no way I’m standing in front of someone so majestically handsome.

His lips parted angrily and he was saying something but all I could focus on was his firm sensuous lips and his beautiful set of white teeth.

Who is this man?

His handsome face was kindled with a beauty that can’t be described. The lighting in the room glimmered over his face like beams of icy radiance and I couldn’t help but look down at his body.

My eyes trailed a path from his face and my breath caught in my throat when they landed on his body. His broad shoulders and his smooth, tanned bare arm almost sent me into a haze.

He stood in front of me as his gaze bore into me. I wanted to stop looking but I couldn’t stop taking in his tempting, attractive male physique.

“WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?!” He yelled and I finally snapped out of my own head as I looked at him all over again.

He’s really real and he’s right here, in front of me.

“I’m sorry,” I apologized as I slightly lowered my head even though I had no idea why, “I’m Lilli…..”

“You think I care to know what your name is?” He snapped at me, cutting me off mid sentence and taking me aback by his utter rudeness.

“Get the hell out of here!” He uttered and scared like a little puppy, I scampered out without being able to say a word.

“You look like you just saw a ghost.” A maid stopped me, laughing at me as the rest of them waylaid me.

“Look, I don’t have time for whatever sick move you guys want to play on me right now.” I retorted as I tried to move but they stopped me.

“Is it because you saw Alpha Nikolai?” The one who had stopped me earlier asked and my jaw dropped.

“What?”

“Yeah well, he’s the Alpha’s son and he’ll be the Alpha soon,” she explained calmly even though her eyes were saying something else.

“And he’s mine.” She finished before pushing me off to walk past me. I was still in shock, that man I just met definitely can’t be Alpha Demitri’s son.

He’s unlike his father, he’s so fucking rude and goddess, I wish I could just pounce on him and bite his perfectly shaped face off. I was still thinking when something else dawned on me.

Oh fuck, he’s going to be the next Alpha!

_____________

It’s been a week and Nikolai has been nothing but rude to everyone around. He was disgusting and looked down on everyone but no one was willing to call him out on his behavior because he had just lost his father.

Tired, I was walking from the laundry room to my room with my clothes neatly packed. I had to stay one more week because my papers haven't been signed yet and I can’t go anywhere without them being signed.

“You know, now that I think about everything well, I don’t think we should leave anymore.” Nala said and I stopped in my tracks.

There’s no way I just heard her right. She just said that she didn’t want us to leave.

Laughing, I reminded her of how horribly everyone around has been treating us and how we needed to leave and have our own freedom but she was adamant on staying.

“Why do you want to stay so bad when you’re the one who’s always screaming about their horrible behaviors?” I asked as I walked.

“I don’t know,” Nala responded, “I just feel like there is something here for us.” She added and I was silent for a while as I pondered on what she had just said.

I couldn’t feel what she said she was feeling. I had no idea what she thought was here for us but I knew for sure that I didn’t want to spend one more night here talkmore of one more week.

Nala and I conversed and I was so deep in the conversation that I had no idea something was in front of me until I bumped into it.

The smell from him confirmed what I already knew, his chest was hard as I collided with it and my breath hitched as I let my gaze remain on my clothes that I was trying to get back together.

“What are you doing?” Nikolai snarled, his voice sending hot chills down my spine, his voice bridled with his anger and I knew for a fact that I dared not look at him if I didn't want to be in deeper trouble.

“I… I… I’m sorry, Alpha,” I stuttered, unable to form a coherent sentence as I knelt, “I wasn’t looking.” I added in a mutter that I almost couldn’t hear myself.

I closed my eyes, waiting for when he was going to pull my hair or kick or even slap me but none of that came as I felt a whiff of air when he walked past me.

The sound of his heavy footsteps echoing in the hallway made me heave out a sigh of relief but that relief didn’t last long because the footsteps stopped.

“You won’t be lucky next time,” Nikolai sneered, “and you also won’t be alive to tell the tale.” He added. My eyes closed in frustration and anger as I clenched my fist but I couldn’t do anything.

“GET OUT OF HERE!” He roared, his voice resonating through the hallway and without thinking twice, I walked as fast as my legs could carry me out of the hallway.

Why does he have to be so rude and cruel?

I might have bumped into him first but I apologized, that still wasn’t enough for him to talk to me like I was just some lowlife.

Pushing the thoughts of Nikolai to the back of my head, I went about my duties in the house and I just couldn’t help but listen to the maids complaining about him.

None of them liked him and even the girl that had boasted about Nikolai being hers now regrets it. The guards didn’t like him too and they wouldn’t stop talking about how he acts like a jerk during training.

The celebration of Nikolai being the next Alpha took place in full swing and I prepared my papers to take to him.

“Why not wait until nighttime before going to him?” Nala asked as she explained that if I go to meet him now, it could tip him off and he’d react badly.

Agreeing with her, I laid on the bed to rest since I wanted nothing to do with him or the celebration outside. I closed my eyes and it didn’t take long for me to drift off into the comfortable darkness.

Everywhere had gotten dark as I opened my eyes. I felt relaxed, I really couldn’t remember the last time I slept that well. My eyes darted to the small clock by my bedside and it glowed red at 9:00 PM.

I packed my papers and left my room as I made my way to his study, figuring that that’s where he’s going to be. The only thing keeping me from leaving was the Alpha’s approval, I’d thought that I was going to meet with him and ask him to sign the papers since he’s the new Alpha.

The night also fell on a full moon and as I got closer to his room, I felt a sweet scent hit my nose and an immense heat from within me. I’d wanted to ignore it but the more I tried, the more distracted I got by the scent.

Nala was also uneasy as she jumped around in excitement, she seemed unusually happy and nothing I did calmed her down.

Following the scent, I stopped in front of Nikolai’s door and the smell became even more mesmerizing and irresistible. I started feeling so hot inside me that the only thing I could think about was to be wrapped in Nikolai’s arms.

“What is wrong with you?!” I said to myself, slapping the thoughts out of my head as I swallowed. Breathing became so hard that even my vision started becoming blurry.

It felt as though I was going to pass out from the intensity of the sweet scent. Trying to concentrate, I lifted my hand to knock on the door but it flew open before I could do that.

Nikolai’s eyes studied me as mine studied him. What’s going on with me and why am I reacting to him this way?

My whole being seemed to be filled with waiting as I swallowed the bile in my throat. A sense of urgency drove me and the prolonged anticipation was almost unbearable.

Every time his gaze met mine, my heart turned over in response and I searched my head for something to say but nothing came out of my mouth.

When I was finally able to speak, what I’d said almost drove me insane as Nikolai stared at me scornfully and in disbelief.

“Mate.” I whispered but I knew he heard me because he bursted out laughing like I’d just said something funny.

Why did I open my mouth?
