A SPECIAL DAY

EMILY'S POV

"My name is Emily, I am twenty-two years old and today I am getting married to the love of my life."

I smiled happily and posted the video I had just taken on my i***a story. I knew my friends would go crazy once they saw the video because my wedding was more or less a private affair. Brian doesn't like publicity so only family members and very close friends were invited to our wedding.

Today is a very special day to me, It has always been my dream to say my vows to Brian in front of a priest and seal it with a kiss, and today, I get to make that dream a reality.

Brian and I have loved each other since our high school days. We were each other's first and I laugh each time I remember how shy I was that night.

We got separated after high school though since I had to travel abroad for college. It was a very difficult time for me, not only was I away from my Brian, but I also lost my dad during that period.

My mum came over and spent a long time with me since I had exams. We have always been each other's support system since my dad left us and every day I feel more grateful to have her in my life.

My dad was the richest real estate mogul in Houston when he was alive and after his death, my mum had to step in and take the reins of the company. She has taken it to greater heights and after my wedding, she will retire from her position and I will get to fill in her shoes since I studied estate management in college.

Brian and I reunited when I got back from college and after being apart for five years, our love only got stronger. He is just so crazy about me and when he popped that question, I felt on top of the world.

The makeup artist took more pictures of me and finally told me she was done. I got up and stared at my reflection in the floor-to-ceiling mirror. God, I looked amazing!

I wasn't the most beautiful girl in the world, yeah but I was way above average. I had midnight black hair, Cherry sweet lips which were blossom soft, and glossy skin. My brows were neatly carved and my luxurious corset wedding gown revealed the fact that I was wasp-waisted.

My dainty nose accentuated my lovely dimples which became visible whenever I revealed my oyster-white teeth and my velvety lashes fluttered whenever I was happy, like now. Brian could never get enough of my sea-green eyes which were a beauty to behold and this is why he always finds himself lost in them.

I looked just as I had imagined and I knew that I was going to take Brian's breath away.

My best friend and maid of honor, Sally, reminded me that it was time to leave. Although it was difficult for me to tear my eyes away from the mirror, I knew that I had to do it. I couldn't afford to keep my groom waiting.

I arrived at the church before Brian and it made me quite happy because people naturally believed that the groom always arrived before the bride but I set a different record. After a few minutes, my maid of honor informed me that my groom had arrived.

I was excited that I suddenly stood up while smiling and looked at the back, however, my maid of honor tapped my arm, "relax Em, he is still outside. I know you are happy but please don't die from excitement before the ceremony begins."

I laughed shyly. I knew I was too anxious but I could not help it. I have waited for this day basically all my life and now my moment has arrived.

I heard whispers behind me and knew that Brian had arrived. I briefly looked behind me and saw him walking majestically, looking handsome as always.

He walked up to me and we were made to stand before the priest. Brian couldn't seem to take his eyes off me and it was the same for me. I kept staring at him as my heart rate increased.

We had come a long way without letting anything come between us. Not the fact that we were once separated, nor the fact that Brian came from a humble background.

The priest asked me to say my vows and just before I opened my mouth to speak, I heard a commotion from the crowd of people seated in the church.

Both Brian and I turned to see five men all decked in expensive suits. Four stood by the door while the one who seemed like the leader walked toward us.

He was one of the tallest men I have ever seen and I was surprised at the people's reaction toward him.

He was empty-handed yet they were all covering their faces in fear as if they were trying not to be noticed by him and my mum was no exception. I heard my maid of honor say, "oh my God, it's Daniel Straw" before covering her face as well.

Who the hell was this guy and why was everyone afraid of him? More importantly, why was he gate-crashing my wedding?

I stared at my mum as she briefly lifted her head. I could see the fear in her eyes but I didn't understand why. If these men were armed, I would have believed that they were kidnappers but they hadn't even harmed anyone, so why was everyone so afraid?

I looked into Brian's eyes and saw that he was also afraid. Beads of sweat had formed on his forehead and his body was almost shaking. I looked at the priest and noticed that his eyes were closed. I couldn't believe he was also afraid.

Perhaps I also needed to be afraid. I had not been in the country for years which was probably why I didn't know this man but I wasn't afraid of him. Despite how everyone around me cowered, the only thought that came to my mind was to kick him out of the church.

However, he was too tall and I knew my capabilities so I just stood where I was and stared at him angrily until he got to where Brian and I stood.

He suddenly held Brian by the neck and began to choke him. Brian, who had received martial arts training struggled with all his might but he couldn't free himself from the man called Daniel.

I tried to grab his hand in an effort to free Brian who had almost stopped breathing but Daniel held me back with his other hand and flung Brian onto the wall.
