CHAPTER 4

In Ace's mind there could be nothing else but that idea involving the woman he danced with in the most relaxed way ever known. Those waves, those vibrations, those emotions he felt Cameron emanated as they danced were difficult to put into words.

In Ace's mind, how could Diego have married her? Not exactly talking about her beauty, but what she was by nature. How much longer until the thought entered his mind that she was Diego Ferrer's wife?

"Do you enjoy it?" Ace asked as he saw her smile.

The smile promptly disappeared from her face. If he had noticed that, surely the people around him had too, what were they going to say about seeing a married woman enjoying herself with someone else?

"I keep thinking about it, I didn't think Diego would marry a woman like you."

"What are you talking about?" Cameron asked, a little offended by Ace’s words.

"Did you see that picture in your room?"

Cameron's heart stopped as her steps became clumsy. That man knew more than she thought she did.

"What's wrong with that picture?" Cameron asked, wanting to know what she was fighting against.

Ace's words ceased the moment he saw Diego watching them from afar.

"Tell me, what does the picture mean!" Cameron insisted.

With a smile on his face, Ace stopped his dancing. "A pleasure to dance with you, I wish you the best in this stage that is beginning, Mrs. Ferrer." Ace allowed himself to say as he kissed Cameron's hand and then left when he saw Diego approaching.

With a thousand ideas left in Cameron's mind, she could only watch Ace leave. He knew more than she herself wanted to know. And suddenly, she was grabbed by the arm by the person who had been watching her dancing with him.

"Shall we dance?" asked Diego without giving her time to answer.

The heavy aura that Diego emanated was the least she needed to get through this contract marriage. The force of Diego's emotions on her forced her to lower her gaze.

"How long have you known Ace?" he asked, wanting to use a common tone of voice.

Cameron's eyes widened in surprise. "Ace?"

"Yes, that man you used to dance with."

Until that moment Cameron realized how lost she had been in that man that not even her husband had entered her head.

"I warn you, my dear beloved," he laughed as he said it, "you are not allowed to go back and forth with as many men as you wish. That is stipulated in the contract, you owe me respect for the simple fact that you said those vows in front of everyone. In the end, we are the couple of the year, don't you think?” He laughed again.

"I was just dancing with him. Don't take me for who I'm not."

"I didn't say anything, I'm just warning you what can happen if you don't know how to behave accordingly."

"I told you, I was just dancing with him."

"I hope so, I really hope so. Don't come with scenes of the affected wife when it doesn't fit you because you simply can't fall in love with a man you've only seen three times in your whole life, in one day. I've told you that and I'm not going to get tired of it until you understand it and it enters your head. This is a contract, Cameron, we both win by doing this, don't you ever forget it. Never," said Diego letting out a sigh as he planted a sweet kiss on Cameron's forehead.

A sweet kiss that made her think of those days when she was with her first love. She was a silly girl who fell in love with a man who was no longer there. But if she thought a little more about what Ace had said. According to his words, Diego was more than everyone else could think of him.

Imagining what might have happened with Diego finding a connection to the photo on the bed and the words he was now saying to her, she felt bad, bad for him, bad for the things he had to have gone through to become the person she was seeing.

"It's time for us to go."

" What? But, Diego, we just got here. "

"Exactly, I just had to talk about a couple of things and introduce you as my wife, it's done, we have nothing to do here."

And as soon as the song ended, Diego was back to the person he was. She had been through a lot, and now she was just a silly child who didn't know what was going to happen in the end.

As soon as they said goodbye to the people who were there and managed to leave that room where the celebration took place and where Diego and his wife had gone to settle some business, even though it didn't seem so, Diego completely changed his attitude outside. Right where no one could see them anymore.

Being no less chivalrous, he helped her into his car without saying a word. That was only the beginning and all she could do was learn from him and everything around her until she could bury in her mind the images of the generous man she remembered as her first love while being with his now husband.

Diego was now nothing more than a man who looked out for his interests, he was nothing more than a man who would do anything to satiate the ambition burning in his soul and that was in response to having signed that document.

As soon as Diego started the car, Cameron turned to the window so as not to have to deal with the person who was now her husband. That one look was all it took to find the person she would have least expected. The one by the name of Ace leaving the celebration hall with a woman. They were both smiling, smiling more than ever. And at the end of it all, that scene could only have one explanation. That man was just that, one more man who had saved her from embarrassment. That man could be no one else but what the world would call a playboy. That man was just a sham like the man next to her and her whole life.
