Chapter 20
“What do you mean you can't?!” Shane shut his eyes when Audrey yelled at his face.  He was dead-tired and was asleep when he caught a whiff of a lavish meal. The luscious smell forced his wobbly body to get up. Thanks to his hangover, he had a hard time stepping down the stairs.  His eyes almost dropped from its sockets when he found Audrey in the kitchen. She was wearing an apron, and he wouldn't lie, she looked so sexy with her hair braided on the side around her head like a crown.  “Good morning,” she greeted him and it took him off guard. He was speechless until she spoke again. “I'm making you breakfast since this could be t

Chapter 21
A gasp of time passed before the forced and seemingly awkward laughed escaped Shane’s mouth. “What do you mean?” he asked and it annoyed her. Shane must have sensed the annoyance in her voice thus he zipped his mouth in a blink. ‘Is he stupid? I love you, idiot, no, maybe I’m the idiot one here but for goodness’ sake! Why are you so clueless!!’ Is what she wanted to say, but she couldn’t. Audrey pursed her lips while rubbing her temple. “You know what, since we couldn’t proceed with the annulment as of the moment, just please… let’s keep our distance in public… for now at least since your mom isn’t around yet,” she said, heaving a sigh. Audrey leaned her back on the door frame. Folding her hands on her chest, she threw

Another wave of silence passed through. Shane was surprised at what she said. It was all over his face. Quietly, he stared at her who refused to look back. His mind was blown away, not by her tremulous voice but her words. He heard them, loud and clear.  ‘I took her first kiss,’ he thought to himself.  He knew her, and she wasn’t the type to make up things. Shane could tell that Audrey was telling the truth, but he refused to believe it. For what reasons, there were so many on his lists.  Audrey disappeared for years and who knows what happened of what she was doing all those years. After she showed up, completely different, and had changed

Chapter 23
Audrey took a deep breath and sighed when the car exited the gate. “You seemed closer than the last time you talked,” Nathan commented. He was driving the car back to his apartment. “Well, I don’t want to pry on your marriage issue so let me ask you something else,” he continued when he got no response from her. “Are you going somewhere or should I drive you back to my place? ‘Cause we’re heading there right now.” “Hmm…” Audrey hummed. She was quietly looking outside the car’s window. Her solitary moment ended when Nathan pulled over to the side. “What happened?” she asked, completely inattentive to what was going on. “Why did you pull over?” Audrey

“Sì,” Audrey answered him when he asked if Nathan came. “You can talk to him later but first, where do you usually eat? This place is too messy and I could still smell the paint on the wall,” she rubbed her nose with her finger and hold the tall guy on the arm to drag him out of the place. “I remember you said there’s a garden at the back, let’s go check it out. We made you some nice food for today’s lunch.”  Anderson pushed the glass door leading to the back. The colorful flowers almost blinded their eyes when they took a few steps to the left side of the building, following the footwalk made of white sands and colorful pebbles meticulously arranged in an artistic way, a flower garden was found.  Built at

Chapter 25
It was Friday and four days had passed since they visited the site and Audrey didn’t have any spare time to visit the place again. Nathan was right. She didn’t have a lot of things on her hand that needs her attention. First, the new recipes that she wanted to put on the menu in her restaurant. She only had a couple of dozens including the desserts, and she thought she needed more. For the past few days, she stayed in the kitchen, trying out various new recipes. And Nathan was her taste-tester. Second, the meeting with the GGE President, Harrison Smith. Nathan informed her two days ago that she needed to attend the meeting. He briefed her about the possible offers that the CEO would present just to make her sign a contract with them. In fact, the GGE didn’t really need to have her. They&rsqu

Chapter 26
The night was long and Audrey couldn’t sleep even after yawning many times. She shut her eyes and took several turns to the side but it was as if the drowsiness she had vanished into thin air after she found herself lying down on the king-size bed in the master’s bedroom. She would check the time often and every passing minute felt like an hour to her. Hey, eyes started to get tired but her mind won’t give her a break. She had been overthinking about the things that could happen while staying with Shane in the same house. To add up with her worries, her mother-in-law was expected to stay with them for a while. Shane would definitely have no problem acting out like a ‘perfect’ husband he could be. Well, as for her, she could cook which was one of the ‘basics’ a woman should learn at least when getting married. Other than cooki

Chapter 27
“Ugh!”  Audrey opened her gapes upon hearing a painful groan underneath her. She was shocked to find Shane laying down on the carpeted floor, with her on top of him. It was an embarrassing position and nothing could make it more awkward when they were seen by a group of maids who hurriedly came to check on them.  She pondered whether to act oblivious or in pain, and she did neither. Audrey jerked herself up but fell again when Shane heaved her down over him.  “Hey, let go of me.” She whimpered and tried to get up once again but only to be dragged down over and over. “This drunkard is so stubborn,” she whispered to herself.

“Are you sleeping?” Audrey asked when she didn’t hear a response from Shane. She moved closer to watch his face closely, making sure that the other wasn’t pretending to be unconscious. “Say something if you’re awake,” she added while carefully watching his eyelashes which she expected to flutter. “Forget it,” she gave up her idea about him ignoring her question. “So, how I get you out of the tub? Don’t expect me to carry you like a princess because I’m not your prince. Ah, it should be the other way around.” She kept murmuring to herself, not noting the faint smile on the man’s face. “Gosh, why can’t I just leave you alone here until you recover on your own? Besides, it's you who decided to overexert yourself in drinking when you knew that you can’t handle it. Those

Chapter 29
The warm water in the bath helped Shane feel less comfortable. His memory was still blurry but some details remained to play inside his head. He stared at the door where Audrey disappeared and brushed his face with his palms as he started to recall the reason why he was so hammered. Shane let his body slid down in the tub to drown away the weary thought he had in mind.  He was busy shooting a commercial as the GGE ambassador when Stephanie called him. After his recollection with his lost love, Stephanie became more clingy to him that he’d spend the night with her at her place, occasionally. If not for Lucy’s firm reminder, he would have already ditched the second half part of the shooting just to meet up with the apple of his eye. Shane literally became one call away for Stephanie. The singer seemed to en
