Chapter 11: The painting
29 September 1272 TuesdayThis, the last semester is slowly coming to an end, which means if we're close to the end, it's exam time. Exam time means studying and a lot of it. It's been over two weeks, Levi has come to my room however I had to tell him to leave, unfortunately. Having to focus on studying. It broke my heart to see how excited he was and then to see him turn cold once I told him I needed some alone time. Today is different, today I have time. I open my room door, excited to see Levi but my heart sinks as he is nowhere to be found.Did he think that I don't want to spend time with him? That's not the case at all, I've just been busy. I won't let him think that I'll make sure he knows I care for him. After all, I still know about the tunnels, I know how to get to him. With firey determination, I open the tunnel door. Not even thinking about how he might scare me again but what I find in his room is almost worse, nothing. I find his usual

Chapter 12: Baking and goodbye's
18 October 1272 TuesdayThese few weeks have been exhausting, we, at last, finished writing exams. However now you think, why have I been busy? We have a festival at the end of the year, to celebrate all our hard work... With more hard work.I take a sigh of relief as I sit down on my bed, getting a few moments to myself. Forbid that ever happens, I think to myself as a knock is heard on my door. I grunt as I stand up and make my way over to the door.Opening the door to a bored-looking Alex I just can't but giggle, "What's got you in such displeasure?" I ask with a grin, crossing my arms. He sighs pulling out his pocket watch, "The king has me organizing a lot of the festivities, along with running this academy. Quite a lot of work."I nod in agreement, "I know how you feel, I've been practicing so hard and helping with all the set-ups. Not to mention still having school work- I've completely forgotten to visit Levi." I said with a sigh.He raised

Chapter 13: Dreams
~10 YEARS LATER~<1280-05-29, Wednesday>Foggy darkness clouds my head, however here in the shadows of smoke and fog stands a tall silhouette. A crown silhouette can be seen atop the darkness's head, I walk closer to it, seeing it on a throne. Moving close enough, I behold that it is a man.I can't see his face, but I can tell that he is above handsome. I can hear his sobs, he's crying. I step back, why is he crying? I can feel cold, dark water seeps into my shoes. I look down and see the water rising, it only becomes more and more as the man's sobs become louder.A realization hits me, this water is his tears. I can't swim but the water doesn't know that, nor does it care. The man is also being lifted up by the water-er tears. I start reaching out to him, but all he does is continue to cry. I start thinking, maybe if I call out his name? I don't know his name though, I st

Chapter 14: Darkness
I sit atop my throne, the same one I spilled blood over all those years back, my crown sitting between my upper legs. I'm in the same room as all the other dreams I've been having.Anger; sadness; but most evident; betrayal burns deep in the back of my throat, such extreme emotions making smoke emerge from all around me. What would cause me to feel such passionate emotions? Why would these emotions cause smoke to appear? I hear footsteps, light, it's the girl, I try to look up, to see her but my body doesn't respond. I stifle a sigh, questions filling my mind, questions that don't have answers, these dreams bring unwanted emotions. Why do these simple nightmares make me feel like this? So lost in my thought, I don't see acknowledge the girl in front of me. She is yelling names but none of them is mine and no matter how hard I try I just can't stop the smoke, I can't stop, I can't stop. I hear cough

Chapter 15: Bright white
Pure black darkness, it's all I can see, there is only the dark. Darker than the deep night, why is it so dark? Have I passed onto the next realm? What could have happened, I was merely just sleeping?I can't see anything but darkness. There is nothing else that any of my other senses can notice. I stand up after realizing I've been sitting. I start walking around, almost scared that I might walk into something.Suddenly a bright, white, light shoots out of nowhere. I cover my eyes and once they've adjusted I see that the shining light is me. My arm is beaming a strong and aggressive ivory color. Why is my arm glowing like so?"Help, please don't forget!" A deep booming voice echoed through the darkness, completely startling out of my questioning state. Once the lights shoot up, it reaches a wall I didn't know was there, lighting up the room. Yet the second it does reach the wall it turns the same pale white.Every corner slowly being consumed by white. "

Chapter 16: Pheonix
Burning white is all I see, uninterrupted, everything around me like I'm a room of nothingness. The white burns my eyes as if looking at a flame for too long. This isn't death, I've had several near-death experiences and this isn't death. What was I doing beforehand? Ah yes, I had laid my head down for a night's rest. It must be another one of those dreams I have, this time yet it's a different setting than the last few. Where is the small girl then? I can't see her, perhaps I should call out for her. "Help, please I need to remember!" I call out, one of the first things that come to mind. Spontaneously saying it, almost like an automatic response, little control over my words. This white, screaming colour, yet so basic and simple, marring my eyes. My eyes rushing around to find something, anything but this empty whiteness. "Help, help! It's freezing cold." A familiar and soft voice says, it's t

Chapter 17: The library
My eyes flutter open, a moment of peace before the immense pain of the freezing cold whiteness consumes my body. I close my eyes and clench my teeth, taking a moment to get used to it. Calming down a bit once the pain subsides. With the sound of a knock at the door, I sigh out at the pain in my arm, why me, why is this happening, I need to find the source. Throwing my legs over my bed, I make my way over to the door and open it."Good morning deary, are you feeling any better?" Matilda asks the morning light glowing on her brown skin. I nod, "Yes, your soup did help quite a bit." I say with a gentle smile, she seems to light up a bit. "That's lovely to hear, I have a letter for you." She says handing me said letter."Well thank you." I smile at her, she nods, "Alright then, breakfast is almost and then after the other schools arrive for the festival. Do you feel well enough to go help them to their rooms?" She asks kindly with slight worry.

Chapter 18: Greetings
I can hear the horse clattering and wheels coming up to the school as Pheonix and I get closer to the main entrance. I straighten my shirt sleeves, walking to the main door.My shoes ecko-ing through the halls, you can hear people going in out their dorm rooms. Friend groups going down the stairs to see their friends arriving in the carriages.Making sure Pheonix hasn't fallen behind, I open the big wooden front door of the main entrance. Heads turn in my direction, you can hear the chatter already rise. Girls swooning and whispering over me, I ignore it as I always do.Yet there are some that whisper about Pheonix, I hear them say they like a man in a dress. I see him get flustered. New rumors start thinking he's a new lover or saying I fired my last one. You see, my last servant didn't follow me around, she was old and preferred to stay out of the spotlight.Walking over to the first principal I see. I hold out my left hand to shake, keeping the right b

Chapter 19: Levin
This is the last week of term one, of this school year. Nevertheless, it still feels as tho this quarter has been going on incessantly. I take one big, dragged, and shaky sigh as I stare up at the roof of my room. The lump in my throat attacks my airways over and over.Tears burn my eyes, on the brink of full-on crying. All the memories from me and my mom come flooding in for the millionth time today. Gripping the sheets as I try not to weep, I can't, not now. Crying is weak, after everything I've been through, I am not weak.Yet, I miss her more than anything in me. She was always the one keeping me going. I would do my best to make sure I could go on a vacation and see her. Yet now I only have myself as a reason to get up in the mornings...For some clarification, she died about two years ago. She had an unfortunate case of malaria. I was at her side, her last words being "I love you," as she squeezed my hand. I could feel t

Chapter 20: Breathing
The air is thick with tension. No words are spoken and the inside of my check is chewed to shreds. My eyes glued to the floor as the silence rings in my ears. So loud, so so loud, overbearingly loud. Forcing my thoughts to scream like sirens in my head. The thoughts I've been running from, hiding from. They face me down and now that I have no choice to listen...They're silent. As silent as the sea, loud waves crashing against large rocks of enormous sizes.I've only been to the beach once, for a school trip. The sea loomed over us when stood there in awe. I'd only heard stories before, but no words could describe it. The silence, not a single passing stranger. The village roads were always so busy and the castle walls were no different. There on the beach, it was quiet of people but load by nature. Ocean waves fracturing against the salty earth. The seagulls crooning their unpleasant songs. The splashing of fish and crabs clacking the pinchers. Almost beautiful
