Betrayal
One of Michelle’s brows raised, her lips pursed. “Well, that was quick.” She clenched her fist on the hem of her shirt, putting all the pressure in it, hoping that, by doing so, the pain in her chest would be gone.Z, her hands still raised, pouted at first before bursting into a fit of laughter. When Michelle continued to look sour, she straightened her face. “Just kidding!” Clearing her throat, she supplied, “You should’ve seen your face. You look like you’ve eaten something bad.”“Do you think I’m joking? Do you think this is a joke?” Michelle was trying to modulate her voice, so it ended up rising and falling every time. It sounded funny for Z, but she noticed the redness on Michelle’s ears and the way her face crumpled.Breathing heavily, Z brushed her hair. It was a bit odd that the pain earlier was gone. Though she could still feel a little bit of the burning sensation, it was e

Before the Storm
Z couldn’t understand why she broke down after Hail’s stupidly declared that he’s going on to the dark side. Or was he? He’s someone he perceived to be strong and, a bit hard-headed, but she had never anticipated him to be this way. It’s too absurd Z’s even wishing for it to be just a dream. However, no matter how she pinched herself, she wasn’t waking up. The Breach to the Deal
Z woke up with shivers running down her spine. Cold long fingers were trailing her skin, crawling all the way up to her neck. She swallowed hard as blackness greeted her. The only light was coming from a small lamp with a pea-size bulb that barely illuminates her room.“W-Who—”The slender finger caressed her lips, and she was left closing her eyes as her heart beats rather fast.“Have you been a good girl?” a toneless voice whispered, its sound waves dancing in the air, swirling in Z’s eardrums. It’s as though a lightbulb appeared inside her head, paving the way to unraveling the man before her.“D-Dark?” She tried to widen her eyes, but she could barely see him with the intense blackness. With her sweats trickling, she had a quick look around, trying to find a scape route as earlier as possible. A small smile curved her lips when she realized she’s still in her room. However, an e

There’s already a lot going on in their classes; any more anomaly and their reputation as the strongest class might just change. Not that she’s more worried about it. It’s just that nothing good would come out of bowing down to panic.“I caught a glimpse of our attacker,” said Berry after a moment of silence.Briane snorted, his hands folded across his chest. “Who is he then.”The twins were sitting back to back with each other. Berry was facing the door and Cherry was eye to e

Declaration of War
The sun was hidden behind the thick clouds building on the horizon. It’s as if heaven knew what has occurred below it and was sympathizing with the Shadowests crying in agony. There were a lot of Nobles suffering a second-degree burn, some have melted skin, their flesh becoming visible.Briane could only look around, his brows furrowed, as screams echoed around the field. It was a mixture of pain, despair, and anger. Somehow, he felt a little useless that he couldn’t do anything.“Where are the teachers?” He gritted his teeth, clenching his fists.“Even if you stay angry for the rest of your life, Speedy, nothing will ever make sense to you,” said Michelle. She was nursing her burns and bruises, sitting with her knees on the grass. “Relax! Unless they’re dead, they’re really going to make some stupid noise.”Shaking his head, Briane looked around again. There were still Nobles and Lackeys who wer

Consequences

Although she wanted to help them, she’s yet to acquire sufficient energy to stand toe to toe with his father. As energy accumulated inside her, the wound she got from the spear issued a puff of smoke. The skin sewed itself and the pain had been turned to a tickling sensation. But a prickling pain on her stomach instantly replaced it. There’s a yellowish light carving a map-like reflection in her uniform.Between the spears and the scar, she knew the latter was easier to bear. She sighed. She could feel it. The rotting hands of death were drawing nearer, its breath sending shivers down to her spine. Shadow
Michelle and Berry were standing right outside their quarter to guard the remaining Shadowests inside. They were being attended by Granny Williams, along with Jane who’s more worried about the fatigue Granny now had. She’d been healing a lot of Shadowests in a short amount of time, and Michelle couldn’t imagine how much energy she already wasted. Above all, what she couldn’t anticipate was the fact that only about thirty Shadowests remained, along with five lackeys who were lucky enough not to get caught with Dark’s wrath. What a shame! They were supposed to be the future of Pasithea but, against a legend who was almost forgotten, they proved to be nothing special. “Are you okay?” whispered Berry, narrowing his eyes at the fierce battle between a Legend and a Skipper. Snorting, Michelle folded her arms across her chest. “You’ve been asking me that since earlier. Are you that worried?” Though her brows were contorted, she couldn’t help but noti
