Chapter 40
"Oh what a tangled web we weave when at first we start to deceive" - Sir Walter Scott, 1808   I gasped as the most excruciated pain circulated my entire body, thrusting my eyes open to be blinded by bright white light. “Laura?!” “Oh thank the Goddess!” I gritted my teeth as I closed my eyes as tight as I could, the light still blinded me so I covered them with my hands. I groaned at the motion, my body felt like it hadn’t moved in days. “Turn off some of these lights Bella, I think they are hurting her.” “Oh right!” I felt instant relief as the lights turned off, I re-opened my eyes slowly. I looked over to my left side to see Ellen, a sad smile playing on her lips sitting in a chair beside me. I was instantly concerned by her unkempt appearance, her hair was a mess and she had no make-up on. Before I could even open my mouth to ask what was wrong ahead of red messy curls c

Chapter 41
I awoke it seemed much later to both Ellen and Bella snoring, I glanced between the two of them feeling an immense sense of guilt. How much had changed, how much pain and turmoil they had both had suffered through because of me. Ellen was right, I was stupid. Sighing I sat up surprised by the lack of pain. I inspected my body feeling an odd sense of dread seeing it back to its normal condition, not a single bruise left. How long had I slept for this time? I bit my lip as my mind raced with everything that had happened. I was stuck, stuck on how to feel about Clide. Ellen’s words bounced about my mind as memories of his harsh, almost cowardly nature reminded me that perhaps she was right. After all, how long had it taken me to see Xander for who he truly was? Was I really that naïve?I stood, waited a moment for the old satisfying cracks of my bones, and a little hesitation after being unable to last time. But neither the sound of cracking bones nor that uneasiness

You call it madness, I call it love. (Part 1)
Hello everyone! Quick request from myself! If you come across a chapter that is confusing please leave a comment on that chapter with a little explanation on what is confusing. I appreciate the feedback you give me and really want to improve my writing so please be more open with me.  I'm also very happy that you all seem to like the idea of free chapters in Victor's P.O.V so from here onwards every 5th chapter will be from his perspective (and free).  This chapter takes place before and just after Luna Ashly's death. Okay! Now that's out of the way, let's dive in! Victor's P.O.V Finally. She was mine. I couldn't lie or hide just how happy I had been that night, seeing her all dolled up with a traditional flower crown. My mate, my Luna, she was spectacular. I could feel her nervousness and hesitation but knew in my heart she would not have agreed or been there if she did not feel the same as me. I knew, thanks to Anya's meddling, that Xander

You call it madness, I call it love. (Part 2)
Her behavior was so, odd. Why would I have her clothes? Why didn't she bring her own? I felt agitated as she slammed the bathroom door but that quickly turned to remorse when I heard her sobs. How, how could I fix this? Why was she crying? Had I hurt her unintentionally? I had every intention of talking this out with her as soon as she came out, but I had passed out before she could return to the bed.  I was pleasantly surprised when I woke up to have her cuddled up to me. My heart swelled as I felt my face break into a grin, her face buried into my neck, her light breathing caressing my skin. I refused to move in case I would wake her, and to try and stop my morning wood from getting too excited. She shifted slightly, murmuring in her sleep before I felt her lips against the nape of my neck. My entire body shivering with anticipation and excitement as I felt her tongue flick against the muscle in my neck. My mind was racing, was she awake and ready to accept me? I felt

Chapter 42
Ellen led the way through the packhouse, Bella at my rear. It was so surreal. I felt empty looking at each area as memories of my life passed by. Thankfully it was the dead of night so no one else was wandering around. I still couldn’t believe everything that had happened to me so quickly, how fast things had changed. I kind of wished that I could go back, warn myself of Xander’s intentions, tell myself to be kinder to Ashly. As we walked out the large wooden front doors I felt myself inhale deeply, pausing to look at the packhouse one last time. Giving myself just that moment to mourn, mourn the person I used to be.  “Luna?” Bella whispered nervously, she was darting around as if frightened we were to be attacked. I closed my eyes and said my goodbyes to the place that I had thought was my home for so long, my heart hurt thinking about never seeing this place again. “Laura. We have to go.” Ellen barked, I opened my eyes to see the same mourning look in

Chapter 43
“What about your eye?” I asked Ellen, she looked at me with shame. “Ah. Well, it seems the forest wanted to keep a piece of me…” Both Bella and I gasped as Ellen pulled up her right eyelid, showing just flesh left. “It’s okay, it doesn’t really hurt. Thanks to the wolf blood I think it’s already basically healed. Guess I was lucky the tree pulled it out…” “Ellen…” I stammered not sure what to say, she just shrugged before turning to collect the bag she had thrown. Forcing me to remember that needle. “Ellen, what did you inject me with?” Ellen’s body stiffened as she stopped moving, Bella sharing my curious expression. She turned and gave us both a nervous smile. “Ah, just something Doctor Herman gave me… to calm you down…” I frowned at how she seemed to almost dodge the question, I knew she was holding something back. “Ellen…” I breathed with a tinge of agitation, why would she be keeping something from me?

Chapter 44
The room was oddly silent as the strange men brought in two chairs from outside the room and sitting on them staring at us. Stacy gave them a suspicious look before turning her attention back to us.“Okay, so. You are refusing to take an x-ray, at least allow me to give you something for the pain and maybe a new sling?”Bella smiled as I felt reassured at her kindness, she nodded and Stacy returned my smile. After Bella was taken care of Stacy focused on me.“Okay, so I know that you probably don’t have any physical wounds but we do have a psychologist on staff to talk to… about… what happened at home.” She spoke carefully, her eyes darting to the men as she spoke.I felt a little better knowing that Stacy seemed to not trust these men, from child protective services. Something about them just seemed off, I wasn’t sure if it was due to the red-haired man’s staring or the other’s strange

Chapter 45
I felt powerless as one of them lifted my paralyzed body off the ground. Honestly, I wished I had been knocked out, being mentally aware was sickening. My heart fluttered for a moment remembering the number of people that were here, surely one of them would see this and do something? I couldn’t believe that the human world would allow this! Although, what did I even know about this world? I barely knew anything about my own world. “She’s heavier than she looks” Monty gasped as he flung me across his shoulder, I heard Simon chuckle dryly. “As she should be, she’s grown so much…” His tone almost seemed pained. “The last time I saw her, she was so small… so innocent…” He sighed deeply. “I wish… I wish things were different.” He finished softly before both of them fell silent. So, he was my apparent uncle. I guess that made sense, but… But why would he seemingly kidnap us? Why wouldn’t he just talk to me? Whatever his reason was, it surely could have just

If you don't fight for what you love, don't cry for what you loose.
Hello everyone! As mentioned previously, this is a free chapter in Victor's P.O.V :) Please remember these will be every 5th chapter.    Victors P.O.V I stared blankly forwards as we walked out of the packhouse, fighting against my own self not to stay and protect her. My love, my mate. Dimitri was right, we needed to leave, but we really had to leave without her? “Alpha, please.” Dimitri almost commanded as I stopped moving, staring back at Clide’s packhouse, arguing with myself to not run back in and take her with us. “Alpha Victor. We need to go, you know she will be safe.” I growled glaring at my Beta. “And how can you of all people trust his word? Trust that she will not be harmed? Look at What Clide has done? Can you believe Herman?” “Yes,” Dimitri responded without missing a beat, his eyes glued to mine. I knew he wasn’t lying, he truly believed in the man. “What is he?” I demanded as Di

Looking for some feedback
Hello dear readers! So, I am starting to hesitate with this story as we are closely approaching 100k words and I feel like we are only about halfway through Laura's journey.    So, can I get a show of hands-on who would prefer I just keep going even if the book gets to 100k plus words or break this down into 2 books?  My thinking is that I add an authors note a the end of 'book' 1 so to speak and re-write the synopsis to advise any new readers that it will be 2 books in one. Alternatively, the other idea I had was to just have a longer book, but I don't want the length to scare off new readers.  Thanks in advance! :)
