Chapter 9
Lilith’s POV 4th period ended up being boring. The teacher was super strict with us not speaking, but that didn’t stop Simon from giving me small pokes or knee bumps. Occasionally, he would lean back and throw his arm across my shoulders. Susi would catch him from the other side of me and shove his arm off. Shaking her finger at him, mouthing “No!”. These two had me going back and forth the entire class. I did like Simon. He was blunt and not afraid to go for what he wanted. Even if he tried to push my boundaries, I at least knew where I stood with him. The bell rang, and we hopped out of our seats. The three of us tried to race out of the room at the same time and got stuck in the doorway until Alexa was kind enough to shove us through. Giggling like little girls, yes, even Simon, we headed for the cafeteria to have lunch. The lunch lady slopped gooey mac and cheese onto each of our trays and asked if we preferred a burger or pizza. I’m a p

Chapter 10
Simon’s POV My last few classes passed slower than molasses. I was craving Lil’s presence. It felt like I was no longer a whole. I’ve dated plenty of chicks, but never once felt this urge to hook to a woman’s side. There was an innocence about her I desired. I’m used to girls throwing themselves at me and me having whichever pick of the bunch I wanted, when I wanted, and where I wanted them. But Lil, it was as if she didn’t care about the male race. That was until I saw her react to the guy in the hallway. When my eyes met his, after she made her PDA comment, I felt an urge to attack him. I couldn’t explain why, just that he pissed me the fuck off. His eyes told me to back off, but my mind said to put him in his place. I was grateful for the distraction the girls caused, including the desire to protect Lil. Being a top jock in my old school earned me the respect of other dudes. They never challenged me. They also NEVER gave a second glance t

Chapter 11
Lilith's POV While Simon drove to the little town at the end of the mountain’s road, we talked about our parents, which led to more. Just like mine, his parents loved him dearly. Their parents treated Opal and he as equals and considered them both to be Golden Children. He told me how they watched Opal be mentally tougher, whereas him being physically tougher. It made them the perfect unit. It turns out the reason Opal was so shy was because of girls at school choosing to be friends with her just to get close to her brother. She couldn’t find genuine friends and kept getting used. With guys wanting to date her, they were afraid of the aftermath of Simon and refused to act on their feelings. Opal had never had a boyfriend, thanks to Simon, and Simon had never had a girlfriend who hadn’t tried to take advantage of his sister. “At least you guys can still come home to a house full of love. It’s like life decided you had too many good th

Chapter 12
Simon's POV Lil inputted her address into my GPS, and we made our way back into the mountains. She played with her phone, trying to get used to it. I gave her my phone number and watched her type in Susi’s number, too. I offered her Opal’s number, but she declined talking about how she wanted to go about it the right way, so she didn’t feel used. That made me smile. I’ve known this girl for a day, and I’m falling hard for her. She’s compassionate and loyal. Nothing like the previous chicks I’ve dated. And the way she teased me earlier? Oh. Hot. Damn. Lil is feisty but pure. I don’t know where she developed the skills to tease like that. It was almost like something clicked in her when our eyes met in the car. We reached her home, and she made no effort to leave the car. She seemed hesitant, which I could understand

Chapter 13
Lilith's POVMy phone's alarm went off and almost fell when I felt for it in the dark. A mini heart attack ached my chest as I caught it by its charger mid-drop. Hissing under my breath as the screen's brightness burned my eyes, I climbed out of bed and slipped on knee-length gray gym shorts and a black tank top. This school seemed pretty lax on the dress code for girls, so I wasn't too worried about the spaghetti straps showing. My sports bra underneath was wearing down enough to allow the shapes of my nipples to be identified. It was 6 in the morning, and thanks to it being Summer time, the sun was just peaking through my blinds. Tim would not be awake yet, even if he was an early riser. My plan was to wake up before him today, rush downstairs to grab a snack, and sneak out. I wasn't playing nice for him anymore. Especially after he almost killed me last night. I hadn't expected him to come chasing after me with a butcher knife. He reminded

Connor's POVHaving had very little sleep last night gave me little to no control over my lykos. Dior was having a pissing match with me and wanted out. I let him have what he wanted last night, and it ended with us having more energy drained than planned. Seeing Lili this morning almost resulted in me causing her turning process. If the smell of her blood hadn't thrown me off, I was going to drag her to an empty room, strip her clothes off, and nip her where no one could see. Her smart mouth didn't help either.I yanked Lili into the Clinic and tossed her to the examination bed. She landed with a thud and bumped her head against the wall behind her. I winced, realizing I was being too violent with her. Shooting a threatening glare at the nurse, she flinched and scurried out. Closing the door behind her.Lili scowled at me while holding the wrist of her hurt hand. Ignoring her disobedience, I searched the cabinets until I found gauze, m

Chapter 15
Taking the chance to relax in my 1st period class before Connor came in, I laid my head and arms across my desk. I closed my eyes and inhaled. Playing everything that happened in the clinic back in my head, I couldn't stop being curious about how he knew someone was coming. Maybe I was so focused on him and just didn't catch the approaching steps. Desire spread through me as I considered what would've resulted if the random student who skinned his knee hadn't interrupted us looking for the nurse. I glanced up to observe each student that attended class. Susi was not in her usual place and her bubbliness had yet to grace me this morning. I checked my phone to see no texts from her still. Feeling annoyed and frustrated, I typed in the memorised number of my bestie in Michigan and sent her a quick text when the last bell rang, signaling the start of class. To Laurel from me - "Hey, lady! It's Lili. This is my #. We need 2 talk soon. I have so much to tell u..."

Chapter 16
Connor’s POV She finally asked the right question. Yes, she asked several ones that all led to the main one. She got it right. My control? Gone. I barely stopped myself earlier in the clinic, and now this Alpha could no longer pull himself from his mate. “Let’s just say someone destined us for each other.” I smirked at her. She squirmed, rolling her eyes. “Seriously? You’re going to spout that ‘destined’ bullshit?” Smelling her arousal, I flattened myself against her harder. “It’s not ‘bullshit’. I just can’t go into more details with you yet.” Lili shoved at my chest and begged me with anger in her eyes. “Please back off of me. This is school, not a whorehouse.” I chuckled, breathing through my mouth, trying not to smell her excitement. She said no, but she meant yes, she just didn’t know why yet. Her lykos was affecting her, even without being created. Raising my hands in defen

Chapter 17
Susi's POV I wasn't planning to tell Connor about the outing Lili and Simon were going to have last night. After we found Simon in front of her house, I had assumed he caught on to them having hung out. Now I was kicking myself for having put off explaining things to him. The anger in our Alpha flooded the room the moment Opal asked Lili if they had hung out. She made it unbearable when she asked her if he had slept over. Along with every single other Lycan in the room, Connor paralyzed me with fear. He would be in a pissy mood for the rest of the day, and that alone was terrifying. I couldn't help but be grateful to be staying in school the rest of the day while he left for the packhouse. The other Beta can deal with him. I caught a smirk rise on Talia's face as I swung my body around to face the front of the room. She enjoyed the power he exerted into the room way too much. Connor: Is that the reason we found him a
