CHAPTER ELEVEN
OTHER CLANS HAD come to take refuge in the Kingdom, therefore, limiting space and resources. It had been a busy week in the kingdom as more people were settling in. Diana saw less of the King as he was busy with the new clans.  Diana had expected the influx of vampires into the kingdom. If the attacks persisted, there would be no more clans, just the main kingdom. The same was heard of the other kingdoms. She was preparing her plan for the alliance when she heard the warning bells ring. Her heart skipped a terrified beat when she recalled that Robin and Rudolph went into town to get supplies.  Dropping the papers in her hands, she dashed out of the strategic room and ran through the corridors. She left the castle unseen and blended into the crowd of running vampires. She almost choked on the stench of so many vampires at once but focused on getting to her friends. Her wolf reeled back in re

CHAPTER TWELVE
DIANA FELT ON edge the closer it got to their death anniversary. She had a feeling something big was going to happen soon but she had no idea what. The day after the incident at the town centre she had a meeting with the strategic team to find a solution for the zombie attacks. She brought up the idea of capturing a living zombie for testing so they could find out what was used to create them. That way, they could create zombie specific weapons. Hence why at that moment, the soldiers were on the outskirts of the town on a zombie hunt. She stayed back with the planning team and doctors, preparing the lab for the zombie. The Vampires lacked scientists and the equipment the Fay people had but they would have to make do with what they had. It wasn't like they had another choice. Currently, she was watching her two friends argue with the doctors about whether bats were vampires or not. She could tell the

CHAPTER THIRTEEN
Rudolph RUDOLPH'S HEART CLENCHED, and suddenly, all he could feel was this gut-wrenching agony that he knew was not his.  "What's wrong?" Robin asked upon seeing his pained expression.  "I don't kn...arrrgh!" Rudolph began, but from the stinging sensation from the black swirl in his back, he was cut short when he cried out. 'The black swirl,' The thought popped up in his head, and as if on cue, realisation dawned on him. "Ana!" Rudolph whispered to himself, and before he could process what he was doing, he was already fleeing the lab like his butt was on fire.  It was not long before he reached the King's study and barged in without knocking.  Scanning the room, Rudolph spotted the source of his discomfort sitting on the wall, shaking and whimpering with the King kneeling next to her. The sight of Diana's state was eno

CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Diana IN ONE MOMENT, Diana's perspective of the King changed. She had heard rumours of human meals but it was her first time seeing it in person. What was the use of the blood bags she saw all over the place if the King still used humans? She couldn't help the disgust that painted her face at the thought as she watched the scene before her eyes.  King Aiden pulled his bloody lips away from the dazed human and sent her on her stumbling way. Opening his desk's top cabinet, he pulled out a white towel and gingerly wiped his lips with his gaze not leaving Diana. The edges of his lips quirked up in amusement at the look of disgust on her face. He smirked, ensuring that she saw the gleaming ends of his pearly white fangs which he licked clean.  "Sit, Lady Moonshine," King Aiden spoke, the look of amusement leaving his face and being replaced by curiosity

CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Aiden SHE WAS THE fiercest and bravest person he had ever met… besides himself of course. And he just couldn’t imagine someone doing anything bad enough to break her. He got that the man murdered her entire family, but the distant look in her eyes held so much pain… So much more darkness… And way more emptiness than the loss of your family could’ve ever caused. It was like she had lost her very soul, with no way of getting it back. Diana had been through a lot considering her age, but she was also strong, brave and smart, and he admired that about her. It was almost as if he was beginning to like the type of person she was, even though their species had never gotten along for centuries. The past couple of days since she had been staying in his home, he had overcome way more than he could’ve ever imagined doing long befor

CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Diana ANOTHER LETTER WAS sent to King Aiden, cancelling Diana's plans to travel to the other kingdoms. There were things far more important than her travelling.  To find an antidote, the zombie in the lab was currently being tested, but no breakthrough was coming forth. She made a mental reminder to go to the lab later to see their progress.  The King's words lingered heavily on her mind, making it almost impossible for her to rest. She knew he was right about the doctor going after Rudolph and Robin and the last thing she wanted was for them to go through what she did. The memories of those haunting six months were buried deep in the void that was her mind… or so she used to think. Hearing that name from the King's lips brought out memories she had tried so hard to keep buried.  Aiden knew something more happened between her and the doctor. Something she wa

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
Aiden A KNOCK SOUNDED on the door of Aiden’s study, and after the person on the other side heard a faint ‘come in’, it was pushed open. As soon as he saw who that person was, he automatically placed down the pen he was using to scribble important information on the piece of paper. “Katherine,” the king greeted gingerly, flashing her his pearly white teeth.  “To what do I owe this pleasant surprise? Did your father send you?” He questioned shortly after, and the corners of the dark-haired vampire’s lips tilted upwards to accommodate a smile. “No, your highness. My father didn’t send me…, I doubt he even knows I’m here,” she responded honestly, and King Aiden found himself wondering… if her dad didn’t send her, why was she there? As his lips parted to ask the questi

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
Diana AT THAT MOMENT, it seemed like a light bulb flashed in all their heads. The doctors immediately scurried away to get the samples of vervain and melted silver while the rest waited patiently.  "A genius, that's what you are," Diana praised Rudolph who grinned at her proud mother's face. "Who do you think taught him everything he knows?" Robin boasted while ruffling Rudolph's messy curls with the latter scowling at the action.  Diana scoffed. "That's not how I remember it happening. If I recall correctly, Rudolph taught you everything you know about science. What was it you were so good at again?" She paused as if she was thinking about it while giving Rudolph a look. A look of realization crossed Rudolph's face as Robin groaned, knowing what was coming. Robin watched as the two stared at each other in silence for a few seconds then sighed, know

CHAPTER NINETEEN
Aiden KING AIDEN HAD no idea what was more surprising… The fact that Diana, the most serious, and terrifying person that he’s ever met besides himself and his father, was paying attention to the emotions which were reflected in his eyes.  Or the fact that they were comfortable enough around each other now to go on a first-name basis.  Nonetheless, he held no regrets after discarding his power and authorised her to call him Aiden instead of King Aiden, or Your Highness. Besides, it was only fair considering that Diana was a descendant of the royal bloodline which would make them good acquaintances. “How are things at the lab?” he questioned, wondering if the scientists were making progress with finding a way to stop the zombies. “When we went down there, they still didn’t have a solution. But Rudolph came up with

CHAPTER TWENTY
DIANA RUDOLPH BROKE THE good news of the testing to Diana the next morning. It took everything in her to keep her mind from wandering to the events of the previous day.  A moment of weakness would have caused the greatest mistake of her life and she swore to herself that she would never let that happen again. With that thought in mind, she left the room, ready to avoid the King as much as possible.  Diana had reached the lab just in time to watch the new weapon in action. During the night, the weapons master of the kingdom had prepared a special gun with the solution they called Zombie Killer.  Not the best but it was all they could come up with at that time.  The zombie was chained to the wall and looked like it had been through Hell and back. It kept on snarling and hissing at anyone and everyone. Being so close up with the zombie brought up memories she wis
