CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE
IN A MOMENT, a thousand things went wrong. Two shots were fired and a body went down, the loud thud echoed throughout the field. In a moment, two hearts were broken.  As the body dropped with a pained groan, Aiden gestured for commander Colton to throw the first grenade.  Someone screamed at the explosion and Aiden used the opportunity to utilise the moment of chaos.  The vampire soldiers moved fast at Aiden's command and before the humans could blink, the vampire had entered their side of the field.  Amidst the mayhem, Aiden rushed to pick up Diana from the ground just as Rudolph came running out.  Rudolph had a look of anguish on his face with his hand gripping his chest. He took a long look at Diana who laid in Aiden's arms with blood gushing out of her chest and immediately feared the worst.  Rudolph choked back a sob as he s

CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO
Diana    SHE WAS DREAMING of green land and grasses that grew up to her knees. The smell of salt was in the air with a slight chill attached to it.    An addicting rush of calmness enveloped her entire being, pulling her deeper into the depths of a different dimension. The smell of nature tickled her nose pleasantly, luring her further.    This was everything she wanted; a world, peaceful and devoid of violence.  She felt light. Too light.    She knew she was in a dream as her reality wouldn't be this peaceful. She let her mind lead her to an unknown place as she savoured the serene feeling coursing through her veins at that moment.    The gentle wind blew some strands of black hair into her face as she sunk deeper. She heard some familiar voices, sounding like a faraway echo in her mind but ignored them.    She would not le

CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE
Aiden AIDEN HAD NO idea what it meant to fight for something until he saw Diana being shot as she attempted to save her long last mate.  The same mate who would most likely ruin any possibility of Aiden’s chances in his untitled quest.  Aiden wasn’t an evil person, but deep down he hoped that her so-called mate would get caught up in the crossfire of vervain, wolves bane and wooden bullets.  That was until he realised what he was thinking about, and forbade the thought from ever occurring again.  Moreover, he never knew what it felt like to lose someone until he held that same woman in his arms, covered in blood from the bullet holes in her stomach and head. For a minute everything around him froze in time as he held her in his arms, his mind going blank as he tried to accept the fact that he lost her.

CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR
Diana   THE MIRROR GIVES a reflection of oneself while the eyes see pictures of other people but never of oneself. Diana wanted to think she was staring into a mirror but that was not the truth.    Staring into the same forest green eyes she had, chilled Diana to the bone. The figure in front of her had her eyes, face, and every other feature she had.    What differentiated the figure from Diana was the dress the figure had on. While Diana had her combat clothes on, the figure wore a sparkly white dress with no shoes. The figure had a flower crown on her head.   "I know for a fact that you weren't born dumb, Diana," the figure stated in an amused voice.    "You are… me?" Diana blurted dumbly, sounding as much confused as she was and the Wolf let out a wolfy laugh.    "I am you as much as you are me. We are the same and so is Luna," the fig

CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE
Rudolph   WAITING WAS NEVER one of Rudolph's strong points. Carefully watching an unconscious Diana as nurses and doctors went in and out of her room drove him closer to snapping.    Diana would always say he had no violent bone in his body but the next doctor who would go into and come out of her room, leaving her in the same condition would get it from him.    It hurt, being in that room and seeing her like that. She was hooked up to machines and wires. It pained him to see her so pale and lifeless. Weak was a word that would never have been associated with Diana… until now.   They returned to the vampire kingdom a while back, much to Robin's displeasure. Robin wanted to take Diana away but Rudolph argued that they didn't have the resources to keep her alive.    The fact that she was alive was nothing short of a miracle. If the bullet had moved further upwards, i

CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX
Diana   "SOME THINGS CAN NOT be helped, no matter how much you want to," a voice spoke from beside Diana, causing her to open her eyes.    She had no idea when or how she fell asleep, between thinking and beating herself up. She woke up a few minutes ago to the sound of leaves crunching.   Diana sat up, giving her attention to the goddess. What would she have to gain if she didn't?    She only felt her pain but now, it felt like she could feel the pain of her other parts; Luna and the goddess. Maybe it was time for her to understand them too.    "As a goddess, it is a crime to interfere with the lives of mortals. I told your ancestors that a time would come when I would come and fight along with my people.    "That time is closer than you think. A greater evil is coming. An evil, even greater than the undead. An evil that would consume my

CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN
Robin ROBIN WAS KNOWN to be patient, or at least a tad bit more patient than Rudolph was. However, in times like these the word patient was not even present in his vocabulary.  Seeing Diana being in the state she was, had him feeling an emotion beyond recognition and he hated it.  He had never wanted anything more than to see her wake up, and he felt useless because there was nothing he could do to make it happen.  Diana was all he had ever known, and is probably the only person besides Rudolph who would have ever cared for him and he was grateful for that.  When Gary had him locked in a cage for his personal gain for months after his friends had escaped, Diana was willing to risk her life going back into that horrible place to rescue him.  Now, he could not even do one simple thing for her and it was torturing him.

CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT
Diana THE FIRST THING Diana felt was a sharp headache that seemed to be trying to split her head in two. A pained groan left her lips and she heard someone gasp.  The gasp was followed by words she couldn't comprehend in her disoriented state. As quiet as it was, to Diana, it sounded like it came from a thousand voices at once.  She opened her mouth to shut the voice up but her throat felt like it had grits in it. She attempted to speak again but immediately went into a coughing fit.  "Here."  She felt a straw enter her lips and slowly slurped the cool liquid like it was her last.  "Thank you," She asked, trying to identify the voice of who was in the room with her but her mind was still too disoriented to do so.  She tried to peel her heavy lids open but failed to as they almost felt glued shut.

CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE
Aiden  AIDEN'S ENTIRE EXISTENCE had led to this moment. He had trained himself to be the best and nothing less. His father was the strongest person he knew and also the coldest.  Aiden knew his father cared about him but due to their emotionless nature, he could not show it much.  He vowed never to be cold to his children no matter how far up the success ladder he would climb. He made that recitation that morning as he prepared for the supreme council meeting.  This was one of the times he knew what to expect and even though he feared disappointment, he was more certain than afraid.  The meeting was in two days so they had to travel before then. He heard a knock on his door and adjusted his shirt before going to open the door. "Katherine, what a pleasant surprise!" he exclaimed, not meaning a word. He would much rather not see the bla

CHAPTER FORTY
Diana  THE SUPREME CAPITAL of the supernaturals was the most beautiful city in the supernatural world, seeing that it held the temporary residence for all the supernatural leaders.  The main residence was a white mansion with golden paint on the windows, doors and other places.  The first supreme leader made the layout for the mansion but it was the previous King, Diana's father who built the residence as a safe haven for all leaders.  Diana had been here a few years ago with her father. She would meet the children of other leaders and get acquainted with them. That was the first time she met Robin.  His parents dragged him to one of the leaders' conventions. They would run about, pranking the servants and guards. Those were the fun times. Now she did not know what the word fun meant.  The Supreme capital was a large city with nu
