Chapter eleven
I sat under a nearby tree and wanted for the beast to find me again. I got found eventually and the beast was ready to finish me off. "I know who you are you monster!" I yelled, in a voice I thought was loud enough. "Hahahaha, you know nothing about me! I will finish you off before you even get a chance to breathe your last breathe!" The beast replied. I was so scared but I spoke up anyway. "I know you are the man that had claimed to be the owner of the land that I and my husband lived on." I said. "Well well well, I see you have figured it out." He responded. "Please let me go! How could you hold a grudge after such a long time?!" I said. My eyes were already wet and I was about to start crying when he took a step closer. "Yes, I will hold a grudge! I hate you and your husband! I heard that you are pregnant as well. That means I'll be getting desert as well as punish

I went straight to the bathroom and bathed like I have never bathed before. I'm not sure if everything that happened to me today really happened or not but I'm glad my husband found me on time. I never knew I was standing in the middle of the road like that.  And all this while I thought I was being chased by a beast. But still it felt so real. If it wasn't real then how come I'm so dirty? Or did I walk through dirty mud paths to get to the road? My husband too was behaving strangely when I asked how he found me.  What am I saying? He is my husband. He would never lie to me or even think of hiding anything from me. I wonder when this imagination of mine started. It couldn't have been when I had gone to Old Magritte's house. But it's possible I started seeing things right from the moment I must have thought I had seen an old man. Yes, that's defi

Henry POV"Are you sure she will be alright?" I asked the herbal woman. "Yes, just give her some time to heal and she will be after that." The herbal was replied. "Okay. I'll wait." I replied. The herbal woman left the area where my wife lay on the floor and I went closer and squatted beside my wife. My wife looked so thin and sickly. What had happened to her? I wish I had never left her at that moment.  Flashback... "Ah yes. It's been such a long time since we last met. Look how grown up we both are now." Thomas said. "Oh, that's so true my friend. I can't believe our paths still crossed after such a long time." I said. "Well, it's nice to see you again." Thomas said and patted me on the shoulder. My long time best friend and I had been apart since we graduated from high school. I'm so happy that we had seen each other just yesterday

I don't think I should tell this woman anything. I have seen Old Magritte's reaction after she discovered that I was going to give birth to a demon child. "Well? Speak up. Or don't you need my help?" The herbal woman said. "Oh I really need help. The truth is that I have no idea why they have been after me. It's not been easy for me these days." I explained to her, not giving her every detail. I mean, what if it turns out she is a demon and just doesn't know that I'm the soon to become mother of the demon child. Everything is still a horror to me. "That's odd. Usually the demons will always make sure that their victims know the reason for which they are being hunted." The herbal woman said. "Well, as for me. I didn't get any reason from them. I just wish they would stop all this. It's been a great torture on me and I'm tired. I don't even know what happened that brought me here." I replied. "A

"There is nothing in the mirror Peggy. I can turn it if its such a bother to you." Henry said. "Don't touch it Henry! It might harm you!" I yelled. My husband didn't listen to what I had said and he went ahead to turn the mirror. "There, is that better?" Henry asked. Suddenly, before I could even understand what was happening, a bloody claw emerged from the ground and was slowly dragging my husband into the floor. Henry shouted for help and I just stood there paralyzed. My husband was dying right before my eyed and I couldn't do anything about it. Blood squirted out of his body and his eyes burst out as he was being dragged down. I can't even explain the way I am feeling right now as I continued watching my husband die in silence. "No..." I said, hardly able to get my words out. My husband was being squeezed by the floor like a toothpaste. Even his bones pushed out.&n

They pinned her to the ground. It broke me to see her in this state but what can I do? She has gone crazy. "Let go of me please let go." She begged and cried. She didn't beg in a way that showed she didn't want to go to a mental asylum. Instead, my wife begged as if we were evil and wanted to torment her. "Peggy please, what is wrong with you. Please be my Peggy again. I want my old Peggy back please." I begged her, not minding those that were present there. But my wife just stayed silent later on. She was no longer her normal self. I could see the pain and fear in her eyes and the problem was that I don't even know what made her feel that way and why. After a seemingly long drive we reached the mental asylum. I can't believe I'm actually going to watch my pregnant wife be taken into a mental asylum. Peggy freaked out even more than she did in the vehicle when she sa

The next day,Henry POVI wonder what triggered this weird behavior in my wife. I remember she has been acting this way but since when did it start? Oh, now I remember. This entire madness began during sex. I remember it well that she said she was seeing some demons. And ever since then I was blind to her insanity. I have to go and see how she is doing right now. I can't abandon her there. Peggy POVI don't even know what time of the day it is. But one thing is for sure, this fire doesn't allow for sleep.  I've been stuck here screaming my lungs out and no one has even opened this iron door since the moment I was locked in. I couldn't even hear other people's screams because mine didn't let me. So this is the way it feels? Finally the door opened. A beastly looking creature walked in and that too holding a pitchfork. It looked st

Evil spirits definitely don't exist do they? "Oh they very much exist young man." A voice said. I looked up and saw a man who looked about forty. He was dressed as a priest and had a cross hanging around his neck. "Good day to you sir." He greeted me. "Good day." I replied, even when the day was definitely not a good one for me. "I couldn't help but overhear you speaking about spirits. Is anything the matter?" The man asked. I looked at him with uncertainty. I wasn't sure if I should share my current situation with him or not. "Don't worry. You can actually tell me anything you want to. I am a priest and I am sworn to secrecy of anything I am told." He said. I was still unsure but I decided to tell him anyway. "It's about my wife." I said. "What about her?" He asked. "She just went insane some months ago. Each day I visit her in

"I don't think we can do that." The other psychiatrist said. "This patient is highly unstable." The first psychiatrist agreed with the second. "I know. I said you two should leave. I will be just fine." The priest repeated. The two psychiatrist were still unsure then I stepped up. "It's okay. He knows what he is doing." I assured them. They nodded and then went out and stood by the door. The priest proceeded to my wife screaming and now skinny wife. She looked at him same way that she has been looking at me since I had been visiting her. The priest touched her head and I felt a bit of an ache on my own head. The priest noticed I was in pain but he ignored me anyway. What a headache. And why all of a sudden? Well, it's a normal thing. I noticed that as the priest touched my wife's forehead, she became calmer. She didn't stop the s
