Chapter 21
(FAYALITE) We were currently inside the room of Alexander as he tended to my wounds on both hands and feet. He was quiet all the time, thus, it became more unnerving to speak with him. Did he probably guess that I was planning to stand him up? But I do hope that he was not thinking about that because I did not want to face his anger. Besides, my escape was a total failure and it even ended up as a kidnapping. Watching him carefully wrapping my hand with a bandage, I suddenly flinched when he lifted his gaze and looked into my eyes. If only his stare was a sharp knife, it could have gone through me. “What did those men want from you?” he asked. I was able to breathe in relief since he did not speak about me leaving the wedding. I managed to escape that predicament as of the moment but the thought of him mentioning that anytime was more than unnerving.

Chapter 22
With the woman entering Alexander’s office, I cannot help but feel worried. Yes, I did plan to run away during our wedding but now that we were married, I do not want it to simply go to waste. At least, I would want to take advantage of it to search for Arsen as soon as possible. I promised my grandmother that I would return as soon as possible but it had already been more than three months and yet I was not making any progress. I just had this feeling that if I stay a little bit longer with Alexander, I could actually find Arsen and I wanted to cling onto that instinct. Out of impulse, I walked towards his office and held the doorknob. I was hesitant to open the door but I eventually decided to go inside. Entering the room, several people, mostly men, gazed in my direction and they were giving me this confused look. “Is she your new secretary?” the woman whom the workers referred to as the ex-lover of

Chapter 23
Regaining my consciousness, I heard several voices, both familiar and unfamiliar, around me. Curious about what they were talking about, I still shut my eyes while enduring the strong smell of antiseptic, my least favorite smell. “We did some tests to check on whatever is wrong with her but we found nothing. She is completely normal,” an unfamiliar voice stated. “You mean… either she is truly sleeping right now or pretending to be asleep?” I was more than sure that that was Alexander. There was a hint of annoyance and anger in his voice that made me hesitant to open my eyes. He was indeed right about me pretending to be asleep right now but I was definitely in pain back then. That was no pretense. Still, even I was ignorant of the reason why I had that chest pain and even lost consciousness. Wanting to explain my side, I opened my eyes and the first person I locked gaze with was Alexander.

Chapter 24
My throat felt dry and all the things that I planned to tell Alexander vanished in thin air. I shifted my gaze to him and was hoping that he would tell Freya to leave his room for a while so we could at least talk privately. But what happened was the total opposite. “After what you did today, you are still shameless to come and see me?” he sneered. “Leave.” As he held Freya’s hand and pulled her inside, a pang of pain had shot in my chest yet again. I was still unsure if it was because I was hurt at what Alexander did or if it was due to the same mystery reason why I fainted a while back. Even though his room was large and spacious, the air became thin that it was already hard for me to breathe. It was like the three of us inside were already too suffocating. “Leave,” Alexander repeated. This time, his voice hardened as he looked at me as if I committed a grave sin.

Chapter 25
I returned my gaze at Luis and gave him a nod. Even though he gave me a worried look, I simply smiled at him before he finally stood from his seat and left the room. Now that only Alexander and I were left all alone, his peppermint perfume became more prominent than the antiseptic scent of the place. I clutched at the thin blanket as I met his gaze. “You won’t be able to force me in signing it,” I told him. He smirked. “I can do anything, Fayalite, to make you do it. And while I am being nice, be obedient and just follow through with my decisions.” This was one thing I did not like about him… his arrogance and inconsideration of my situation. Unlike Arsen, this very person did not have a single ounce of being considerate. After he forcefully barged into my life and put my plan into disarray, he wanted to leave as if he did no damage. He was just too selfish.

Chapter 26
(FORSTERITE) I gulped at the question of Lansford because it just felt like he knew where I really came from. I really could not guess if he was asking because he did not know or he was simply testing me if I was telling him the truth or not. This was one of the things that somehow made me fear him… he was just one of the people I could not predict. Clearing my throat, I replied, “What do you mean by kingdom? I am not a princess or anything so coming from a kingdom is definitely not possible. What are you even thinking?” After washing the vegetables, I turned on my heels to leave the kitchen because I did not want to continue the conversation. It was a dangerous path to take so better yet retreat before this guy would hit me in the most unexpected time. However, upon turning away from the sink, I flinched upon seeing him standing before me. He flic

Chapter 27
“Shut your eyes right now, Lansford, before I will snatch them out from your eye sockets,” I threatened. “They’re closed,” he replied as he slowly put me down. Since he had already seen my true form, I let out my nine tails while maintaining my human form so I could at least use them to cover my nakedness. Taking a few steps away from him, I saw that he indeed shut them close but to make sure of it, I clenched my fist and attempted to punch him. I stopped midway when my hand was already a few millimeters away from his face. Seeing that he did not flinch even a tiny bit, I was convinced that he was keeping his word. I turned my back on him and grabbed my clothes from the ground before I tiptoed back to the room to get dressed. This was supposed to be one of the ordinary days that I should be searching for my sister but I did not know what went wrong or what I did wrong just to deserve this. I

Chapter 28
What happened the next day after Lansford found out about my true identity as a red fox, I did not really like what greeted me so early in the morning. I had a good night’s sleep indeed but upon leaving my room so I can head to the kitchen and find something I can cook, Lansford was in the living room. “Morning. What’s with the piles of papers around? Are you studying for an exam?” I asked. He did not say anything. He simply motioned me to sit beside him while holding a few documents I could not understand. Occupying the seat near him, he showed me a book with colored illustrations. If I was not mistaken, it was possibly a book for children. “Before we depart tomorrow, I will be teaching you how to read so you can survive on your own when you make future deals in my stead,” he said. I looked at him with a raised eyebrow. “Are you expecting me to learn new wri

Chapter 29
Lansford shrugged his shoulders and replied, “It is a well-known tale here.” What? Really? But how did humans even know of the Black Alpha’s existence? Did he probably announce his presence? Or was he captured when the humans came to know of his real identity? Err… just by thinking of that gives me the shivers. He might be being tortured somewhere or even died. I wanted to ask more about the tale he was referring to because it could not be the one I was talking about but every time I bring out that topic, Lansford would dismiss it and insist that I should just focus on reading and memorizing. He acted that way until we were at the airport and just like always, I was stunned at the huge machine that humans use to fly. “Hey, Lansford,” I called out as I narrowed my sight on the so-called airplane. “The wings of that plane seemed to be too hard. Are you sure that if we ride on it,

Chapter 30
For a minute, Lansford and I were in a staring contest. There was really nothing he could do to my wound since I already washed it clean and it was not that deep to cause any kind of infection. Moreover, he was a mere human being so he had no healing abilities to close the wound. He was probably doing this to show off and make me think that he was such a gentleman. Guh, after how he acted for the past few days, a day would never come for me to even consider him as a gentleman. “One…” He started to count which only made me roll my eyes before pushing him away from me. Not saying a word, I got up and sat on the edge of the bed with my back facing him. I gathered my long hair to the side just so he could get a clear view of the scratch. “It’s not that serious of a wound so there is nothing to worry about. I could still go and meet that dealer you wanted to do business with so don’t be to
