Chapter Forty-One: Violet
I couldn't help myself from wearing Caleb's hoodie to class the next day. It was big, soft, and warm. The fact that I was dozing off during class, had more to do with the soothing piece of fabric that still smelled like him rather than the teacher's boring lecture. I was happy with my decision for us to just be friends. We got along really well, and it would be nice to have someone other than Chloe to hang out with. If I even still had Chloe. Jones was an oddball, but I could see him becoming a good friend too. It just might take some time to understand him. He seemed to be a very unique guy. If Caleb liked and trusted him, then I could too. Leaving my lecture, I wasn't expecting to see Caleb standing outside of the building, and my breath hitched when I did. "You know, some might say that you have stalker-like tendencies." I teased as I walked up to him. "Yeah, yeah. I'm crazy. Glad I caught you though." I watched as he fidgeted with a piece

Chapter Forty-Two: Violet
"Well, I was thinking about telling her how much I appreciate when my friends and family come to my games to support me." He shoved his left hand into his back pocket, leaving the right to swing freely with the jersey in his fist."That's a good start, but you didn't actually ask her." My instinct was to reach over and nudge his arm, but I fought against the impulse to touch him."I was getting to that." He nodded. "Then, I would ask her if she was going to the game this weekend.""Of course, she would be going to the game this weekend. It's going to be the biggest game of the year so far. The entire school will be there." My dad had bitched about our rivals for the past two years. He always complained about how during most of their plays, they always left a gap in their coverage that led directly to their quarterback. Yet, they continued to win game after game. He said they were careless, untrained, unprepared, and lucky. He was a firm believer that you

Chapter Forty-Three: Violet
The loud roar from the stands echoed through the stadium, causing the bleachers to subtly vibrate. The Demons versus the Jackals. A sea of blood-red, flooded one side of the arena while the other was consumed by gold and black. Camera crews were down on the field as they captured footage of the teams warming up and the fans losing their minds. Scouts were sure to be in the stands from how much this game had been hyped up. Both teams had been introduced and let out onto the field to the sound of an over-produced song. The loud music was blaring out through the speakers stationed around the audience. It drowned out the chatter and yelling between the two universities, making them shout even louder to be heard over today's overplayed hits. Chloe said that she would attend. She was bringing Ryan with her, but they were late. The teams were out, the game was about to start, and I was fighting off person after person who tried to claim the seats that I had been sav

Chapter Forty-Four: Violet
"Not exactly. I'm still thinking about it. Right now, we are just getting to know each other as friends. If things progress, then we will have to take it as it comes." She pressed her lips together at my words, and I bit back laughter of my own when I heard the pun."Oh, I'm sure that you will take it as it comes." She shouted to be heard over the crowd and the music. A blush filled my cheeks as the person next to me turned at the obvious innuendo. I refused to look over at them. Instead, I stared wide-eyed at my best friend.I wanted to change the subject and ask her how she was doing with Ryan, but I couldn't do that with him right next to us."Look who finally noticed you?" Chloe asked as she gestured with her chin to the field. I glanced down to see Jones pointing at me. Caleb was standing next to him and looked up at whatever Jones had said to him.Our eyes met instantly, and a bright smile lit up his face. He looked relieved and ex

Chapter Forty-Five: Violet
And so, the cycle continued. That Monday, as I was leaving my last class of the day, he stood outside the doors waiting for me. He was there again on Wednesday. We had avoided talking about the touchdown, much to my dismay. It wasn't that I didn't want to. It was just that my tongue-tied and my stomach clenched with nerves every time I thought about asking him.As much as I missed Chloe and wanted to talk to her about everything with Caleb and Ryan without the screaming of a crowd to yell over, I was also extremely grateful that I was getting the alone time to get to know him more. He kept me laughing and on my toes with his witty jokes. On the following Friday, I was disappointed that he wasn't there, but he had been away for a game the night before and was probably tired if he had even returned yet. After I sent an unanswered message to Chloe to see if she was free to go to the dining hall with me, I made my way back to the dorm room.It wasn't that I was scar

Chapter Forty-Six: Violet
"Violet!" Jones shouted with a smile as he broke away from the group that he was standing in and ran over to meet me halfway. He was faster than I expected, and I released a short scream when he threw me over his shoulder, causing my backpack to smack me upside the head as he spun me around. "We won!" He yelled, referring to the away game they had just returned from."That's awesome, Lenny. Now put me down!" I laughed as I began to squirm in his arms to be free."Did you just call me Lenny?" He stopped spinning as he asked with confusion before he moved toward the group of men he had been talking to before."Yeah, you know, from Of Mice and Men?" The silence from him but the laughter from the group of people confirmed my suspicion that he had no idea what I was talking about. "Oh, come on! It's a classic! Don't they make everyone read it in high school?"His voice was like honey, and I felt my back stiffen when I heard it. "That would mean that h

Chapter Forty-Seven: Violet
It was nice having Caleb as a friend, but that didn't stop the dirty thoughts that swam around my head as we sat on top of his bed. All of the memories from our last encounter in this very spot had me tense. Every few minutes, I would feel him look over at me in the darkness of the room as the movie played on in front of us, even though neither of us were watching it.I smirked as I caught him staring once more and turned to confront him. "Why put on a movie if you aren't going to watch it?" The dumb rom-com on the screen had a cheesy plot and was beyond predictable, but I adored those types of movies. It felt good to see people fall in love and live happily ever after, even if that wasn't realistic."Maybe I just like spending time with you, and I put the movie on as an excuse to get you to stay a little longer?" The heartbreaking smile that spread across his face sent a zoo stampeding through my stomach. I forced my eyes away from his to look at the screen again.

Chapter Forty-Eight:Violet
He met my demand eagerly as he grabbed his shirt with one hand and threw it across the room. I turned my body from where I had been sitting against the wall to lay flat on top of his comforter. Our lips met again in a flurry of passion and haste with him pressed on top of me.The feeling of his hands as they ran down my sides sent another burst of lust through my body, and my legs wrapped around his hips to pull him closer to my center. There was nothing in life that I had ever wanted more than I wanted Caleb at that moment. He was a dream and reality. His touch and kiss felt too good to be true."Caleb…" I moaned out as he sucked at the junction where my neck met my shoulder. It was easy to get lost in him as he pulled my shirt and bra off, kissing and sucking on my flesh with every inch he revealed."I knew I should have made you say my name last time. That was the sexiest thing I have ever heard."The way he then continued to worship my body lef

Chapter Forty-Nine: Violet
The feeling of soft sheets wrapped around me brought a smile to my face as I stirred from my slumber. Two months ago, I had felt the same sheets against my bare skin, and they felt even better today. I couldn't help the moan of pleasure that left my lips as I stretched like a cat with my back arched off of the bed before I cracked my eyes open. The morning light came in around the edges of the black-out curtains, leaving the room in a calming, dim glow.Last night had been the most perfect night of my life. Even better than the last time I was in this very same bed. He was sweet and loving, yet rough and demanding. I loved every second of it, especially when he said my name.Oh, how I deeply regretted keeping my name from him the first time we met. The sound of it coming from his lips while he lost himself inside of me pushed me closer and closer to the edge each time until we were falling together. Over and over again. It was the most magnificent sound I had ev

Chapter Fifty: Violet
I wanted that. I wanted that, and I wanted that with Caleb. No more hiding from the gossip and rumors. They could say what they wanted about me. I could handle it. What I wouldn't be able to handle would be to see Caleb with a new girl when it could have been me making him happy."I was thinking about saying yes to him, finally."The exaggerated drop of Chloe's jaw made me roll my eyes at her. "Took you long enough. That 'damn man', as you put it, is completely head over heels for you.""He is not. We are just getting to know each other." Taking a sip of my iced coffee, I avoided her gaze as she stared me down with a smirk."Sure, you are….Very closely by the looks of it. Anyway, I think it is great that you are giving him a chance. You guys would be great together." She said as she bumped my foot with hers.It felt good to have her support. In the past, she had always been the voice of reason, and I trusted her opinion. It only set
