51: Horn of a Unicorn
Salem carefully lifted the top of the box and Kalista sucked in a sharp breath as her eyes fell on the terrible creature within. It was a three-headed serpent, scaly skin as dark as midnight. Its glowing red eyes glared at the two women above it. Strangely its eyes locked on Kalista and it shot out of the box, fangs exposed and aiming its strike for her.In the nick of time, Salem stepped in front of Kalista and the serpent froze, baring its fangs at the witch.Everything happened so fast that Kalista only had enough time to let out a horrified gasp and flinch. She stared at the serpent over Salem's shoulder and gulped fearfully."What is that?" she whispered."The Ghidorah," Salem answered, keeping her eyes on each of the heads of the serpent. "In other languages, it is called the Kaiju. It guards the old scrolls, and only the stongest witches can tame its fury.""It almost attacked me," Kalista voiced out, taking two careful steps backwards. "It senses you as a different creature

Salem's words echoed repeatedly in Kalista's ears.We can't save Jade. He'll die. There was a loud persistent ringing in her ears and her heart felt like it would explode. When Salem tried to touch her, she swatted the witch's hand away, shaking her head in horror."You don't mean that," she whispered."Kalista...,""You don't mean that," Kalista repeated, her voice getting louder. "Jade has a quest to complete. He needs to find a way to defeat his uncle and take back Hayden.""I know all this Kalista...," Salem began to feel frustrated but Kalista didn't give her a chance to speak."You don't know anything!," she said, her voice shrill and filled with anger. "If you do, you will do all it takes to bring him back to life. You can't just give up. Jade would never give up on you if you were in his place, and if he had the slightest chance that he could save you."At a loss of words, Salem just clasped her hands together and hung her head. Her silence infuriated Kalista and she turned on

53: Kingdom of Nirvana
The sun was high up in the sky when Kalista slowed to a stop and collapsed beneath a large oak tree. She heaved for breath, her chest rising and falling rapidly. She had been on the run the moment the mist took her out of the village. The incident of the past few hours played back in her mind's eye. After she took the rune from Salem, she then made her way to the temple first. She needed to see Jade one last time before leaving. The temple was empty when she stepped in. The witches had all left and a healing poultice was placed beside Jade's head, but Kalista knew it wouldn't heal him completely. Her heart broke all over again when she stood beside him amd gently took his hand in hers. His brows were knitted in discomfort and his breath came out faintly. "Oh Jade," she whispered, tears falling from her eyes. "This is all my fault. I wish... I wish I never told you to mark me. You wouldn't have been hurt." She sniffed and continued. "That is why I have to do this. I can't sit back,

54: You're very beautiful
"The penalty is death!"Kalista came to a stop abruptly. Death? This couldn't be happening, she thought. She couldn't let these humans discover she was a supernatural creature. And worse, if they realized she was a halfblood, would that not be the end of her? How would she get out of this mess?Roland noticed she wasn't beside him and he turned to face her."Is something wrong?" he asked in concern.Kalista quickly schooled her expression and she gave him a harmless smile. "No. I'm just appalled at the rules of your kingdom. Isn't... isn't death too much? I mean, you can't just go about killing people just because they have magic.""We don't just go about killing people with magic," Roland chuckled. "We are not savages. King Astra only placed the rule so people with magic wouldn't venture into the kingdom. The rule is to protect his people."Before Kalista knew it, they arrived at a building that towered over them. Percival who was ahead of them pushed open a large iron door and Kalis

55: The king's unicorn
Roland paced worriedly outside the door, blue eyes filled with worry. Once in a while, he would stop and stare at the closed door, wondering what was taking Sir Percival so long. It didn't take more than a few minutes to check someone for signs of magic. Then why were they taking so long?He didn't know why he was worried. Kalista looked like every other human, young and beautiful. He was sure she wasn't a witch or a sorceress. Then why did he have this nagging feeling within him? And even if it was discovered that she had powers, why was he so bothered about a woman he just met? Shaking the thought out of his head, he resumed pacing when all of a sudden, the door was yanked open. He turned abruptly and pinned his gaze first on Kalista, then on Percival. Kalista wasn't in chains which meant Sir Percival didn't find out anything. She was human. Roland couldn't understand the relief that coursed through him at the thought. Why did he feel so relieved for her?"Everything okay?" he ask

56: Feral
It was dusk and the sun was sinking into the horizon when Percival stepped into his home. His shift had ended for the day and all he could think of was a warm bath and a bottle of wine.Strangely enough, he found himself thinking of the woman that had arrived at the castle that day. Kalista. She was a very beautiful woman, but she was strange. Although he had allowed her to go because the metal detector had malfunctioned and also because he felt she was really a human, still he couldn't stop feeling suspicious of her.She was strange indeed, and he found it hard to believe that a woman as beautiful as her wasn't a witch. He would just have to keep a close eye on her. If she turned out to be dangerous, he would have to destroy her quickly, to protect the people of Nirvana. That was his oath as a knight. But if she turned out to be harmless and innocent, maybe, just maybe, he could start up something with her. He had been alone for too long. He needed a female companion.Pushing Kalista

It was eerie and Tyson began to feel terrified. As he ran, he occasionally looked behind him, checking swiftly to see if he was being followed by the white beast. The white beast was nowhere to be found, but the feeling of being watched descended on him, making fear cloak his entire figure. On one of the occasions where he turned to check behind him, he caught a blurry movement from the corner of his eye. 58: Saving Jade
"What's on your mind?" Roland asked as he strolled beside Kalista. They were on the path that led to the royal stables. Kalista had been lost in thoughts. The memories of the previous night played repeatedly in her mind amd she couldn't believe she had shifted uncontrollably again and killed people. It reminded her of what occurred in Northville before Jade took her away, how she had shifted uncontrollably and hurt people. "Are you worried about the murder of last night?" Roland asked again when Kalista remained quiet."Yes," Kalista lied, which was not really a lie. She was worried about someone discovering what she was. "Who knows when this beast would show up again. How can one be safe?""You don't have to worry about any of that," Roland assured her. "If the beast shows itself a second time, we will destroy it."Kalista said nothing else and just nodded. If only Roland knew the beast was walking beside him. She really needed to get the unicorn's horn and leave before something te

"Drop the dagger! Now!"Percival's voice was both hard and harsh, and when Kalista saw the look in his eyes, she knew he was serious."I didn't want it to come to this," she said out loud and whirled around. With inhumane speed, she brandished the dagger and slashed off the horn of the unicorn."NO!" Percival yelled and charged towards her, sword gleaming in his hand.Kalista turned and faced him, dagger in one hand and the unicorn's horn in the other. Her eyes fell on the sharp tip of Percival's sword and she panicked. In that swift moment of panic, her eyes shifted, glowing bright gold. Her wolf surfaced she accidentally shifted. Wicked looking claws and pure white fur emerged from her hands and sharp pointed canines tore out of her mouth.Percival stopped halfway, his eyes opened in horror. He gazed at Kalista's half transformation and realization slowly dawned on him."You're not human," his voice came out hoarse and filled with horror. "You're a lycan. You killed those men! Damn
