Chapter 1

"You're nothing but a leech, Frederick York! Worthless and unwanted, that's what you are! Now hurry up and sign these divorce papers so that Pris can be free of you!"

A thick stack of papers was rudely thrown right in Frederick's face.

He clenched his fists tightly to suppress his rage. He was not in the mood to spare any attention to the well-dressed scion before him. Ignoring Wade Zahler, Frederick set his gaze on a limited edition Ferrari pulled up a distance away.

"Why won't she come and talk to me herself? I will only discuss the matter of divorce with Priscilla."

Upon hearing Frederick's words, Wade behaved as though he'd just heard the joke of the century. He guffawed exaggeratedly.

"Pris handles business dealings worth tens of millions by the minute! Do you think you're worth her time talking to you personally? Who do you think you are?

"For the last three years, she has had numerous dealings with Monroe Group. She is now one of the most prominent and wealthy ladies in the whole of Jenaire City! And look at you. You're still the same useless bum you were three years ago.

"From now on, you and Pris are people of two entirely different worlds! And you shall remain as nothing but a mere stain in her past! So, I'm telling you, you'd better sign these papers right now! Don't make things ugly for yourself!"

When he heard Wade's words, Frederick smiled wryly. So, just because she had business dealings with Monroe Group and had made a name and a fortune for herself, she was looking to have a divorce with him?

He couldn't help but think back to three years ago, when both he and Priscilla lived off instant mac and cheese and constantly evaded their landlord who demanded their overdue rent. She seemed to be a totally different person now.

"I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I will only talk to Priscilla about this. You are in no position to confront me about this!" Frederick's tone became ice cold as he looked straight at Wade.

"You are fucking tempting death!" Wade was set off in a furious fit by those words. He was the scion of the Zahler family, for goodness sake! How could he put up with being belittled by such a piece of trash?

Raising his fist, Wade was about to throw a punch at Frederick.

"Hold it!" A lady's voice was heard.

The door on the driver's side of the Ferrari sports car was slowly pushed open. A lady with a pair of slender legs in black stockings made her way out of the car.

Dressed in a sophisticated and professional outfit, she had a pair of red stilettos on her feet to match her outfit. And although she had a huge pair of sunglasses on, it did nothing to cover her beauty.

Seeing the familiar, yet not entirely familiar bombshell before him, Frederick smiled. That was none other than his wife, Priscilla Miller.

But ironically, after not seeing each other for half a year, the first thing they were going to talk about when they finally met was divorce.

Priscilla took off her sunglasses and said indifferently, "Let's get a divorce. I'll give you ten million dollars. That's a reasonable price."

Frederick looked at her and felt like there was a stranger before him. "Price? Is our marriage just a business deal to you?"

Priscilla seemed to be running out of patience. "Frederick, this is how the world works these days. Everything is about money.

"Look at you. You go through every day like a zombie. I really do not wish to spend the rest of my life with an incapable man. If you think that the sum isn't enough, then name your price."

Frederick stared at Priscilla in disbelief. It wasn't until a while later that he mumbled to himself, "You weren't like this before."

Priscilla failed to stifle a laugh. But it wasn't a happy one. Instead, it was one of contempt.

"And what was I like before? You gave me a rotten firework and told me that no matter what situation I'm in, as long as I light up the firework and make a wish, any wish would come true. And I was gullible enough to believe you. But I'm no longer the little girl I used to be."

As she said that, Priscilla reached into her limited edition LV bag and pulled out a black firework in the shape of a dragon. She pointed it to the sky and set it off.

With a loud whoosh, it flew up into the sky, soared through layers of clouds, and finally exploded into the shape of a dragon.

Priscilla got very worked up and asked, "Didn't you say that any wish would come true? Well, I'll make a wish now. I want a divorce!"

Frederick stared at the shape of the dragon in the sky until it disappeared. All the moments they shared between them for the past three years seemed to have disappeared along with it.

He nodded lightly and said in an unusually calm voice, "Alright. Your wish has come true. We'll get a divorce. I will not take even a single cent from you!"

Picking up the divorce papers that had fallen to the ground, Frederick signed his name on them and left without the slightest hesitation.
