Chapter ten

Caleb’s POV

It was hard to hear the truth spilling from his lips. If that was the truth.

"What are you saying?" I grit out through clenched teeth, gripping the sides of his shirt tighter.

"You heard me right." He said cockily but when he saw the expression on my face, he quickly backpedaled and hurried out. "It's the truth, I swear!"

"And why should I believe scum like you? How would you even know about Katherine?!" I asked him, and the more I started to talk, the more it occurred to me that he could be spewing a whole bit of smoke up my ass just to deceive me.

Or maybe that's why he's here all along.

"I know because I'm from there!" He spat out bitterly. "Our Alpha claimed her as his mate not long before I was…" he didn't complete his sentence, regret clouding his eyes as he turned his head away.

But I forced it back to face me. "Before you were what?" Anger burned through my veins like acid at the mention of someone else claiming what was mine but I tried to keep a cool head.
