CHAPTER ONE

His hands caress my body, which erupted goosebumps everywhere he touched me. I was burning hot as his breath fanned over my face. My eyes met those amber orbs, which made me lose my mind all over again. He snaked his hands around my waist, pulling me towards him, even though there was not a single inch of space between us. His lips met mine and my stomach felt as if it had exploded with millions of fireworks. My mind screamed at me to back away from him, but my body did the opposite. My hands went around his hair and grabbed a fist of his brown locks while his tongue played inside my mouth. Devouring me. Tasting me. I kissed him back with the same need that he showed me. He tasted like wine and smelled like alcohol.

He pushed me to the wall behind me, and a groan escaped my lips. He didn't let go of me though, as he continued to savor the taste of my lips. I heard a deep moan from him, which seemed more like a growl. Was he getting impatient? I thought. He lifted me from the ground and I instinctively wrapped my legs around his waist, still kissing him. My lungs were burning with fire while my heart was pounding like crazy. His hands traced the bare skin of my thigh and reached upwards until he…

A horrible ring went off in my ear and my eyes shot wide open. I was breathing hastily and my hair was glued to my forehead due to the sweat. My chest heaved up and down as I recalled the dream I just had. What was that? Who was I dreaming of? I questioned. I checked the clock that showed I was getting late for my office. Heaving a sigh, I jumped out of my bed, ignoring the erotic dream. I had never dreamt of something like that. I didn’t know why but that man was the only thing I could think of while showering. I shook my head to remove all the running thoughts from my mind and focused on drying myself.

I walked back to my room and changed into a fresh pair of outfits. I combed my hair and let them loose on my back. I walked to the kitchen and made myself a cup of coffee. I went through the news feed while sipping my coffee.

I left shortly and climbed into my car. I was the branch manager of one of the biggest companies in the country. I wouldn’t say it was easy as I had a lot of work pressure but the pay was I high and I was satisfied with my life. As I drove towards the company, I received a call from my assistant, Iyanna.

“Yes, Iyanna,” I spoke with my eyes fixed on the road.

“Miss Atwood, Mr. Reynolds has arrived,” she informed me. I sighed. They were already there.

“I’m on my way, Iyanna. Tell them to wait for me in the meeting room,” I told her. I hung up the phone after that and sped fast. I arrived shortly and pulled my car in front of the company. Getting off the car, I strolled inside and towards the meeting room.

Iyanna met me on my way and led me to the meeting room. I entered the room where two men were waiting for me. I recognized Mr. Reynolds, who was a man in his early forties with blue eyes and a kind smile. I concluded that the other man must be his secretary who stood beside him.

“Mr. Reynolds,” I said, closing the distance between us and extending my hand, “I’m Rose Atwood,” I introduced and the meeting began.

I sat on my chair in my office and stretched myself. It was already dark outside and I was tired of working all day. I jumped when my phone rang.

“What are you doing tonight?” my best friend, Emily, asked from the other side of the phone.

“I was just finished with my work,” I replied.

“Great, let’s go and have some drinks,” she stated. My eyebrows knitted together when I detected bitterness in her tone. Emily had a bubbly personality. She was a chatty girl whom I met when we were in high school and since then we were friends

“Emy, did something happen?” I queried.

“We broke up,” came her reply. We both went silent as I thought of Blaze. Blaze and Emily met two years ago and started dating immediately. Emily loved him, however on Blaze, I had my doubts. I hung up the phone telling her that I was on my way to the club where we usually met. I left my office but not before I informed Iyanna that I was leaving. I drove towards the club. I decided to just go to the club in my office attire which was a black pencil skirt and a maroon shirt.

I parked my car and entered the club. The club was packed with people and it was too loud to hear anything. People were dancing and making out in the corner. Some were already drunk while some men checked me out. I felt disgusted, so I went straight to the bar, where I hoped to find Emily but she was not there. I reached in my bag and picked out my phone to dial Emy’s number. She didn’t pick. I took a seat and ordered myself a drink. I decided to wait for her there thinking she must be on her way.

I was alone, sipping my drink when suddenly I felt someone’s gaze burning holes in the side of my head. I looked around to check who it was but found no one staring at me. Suddenly my eyes went upstairs and widened when my gaze met with the same amber orbs from my dream. A chill went down my spine when the same face from my previous night ran through my mind as the man fixed me with his sharp gaze. I was dumbfounded. Closing my eyes, I tried to calm my racing heart and opened them again to look at the mysterious man but this time he vanished as if I didn’t see him a few seconds ago.

Confused, I focused my mind, with my eyebrows knitted together, in searching the man but jumped in my seat when someone tapped on my shoulder from behind.
