Chapter 15
I KNEW Roam saw the hint of curiosity on my face when I went to the porch to see the smoke coming from a distance. My hands gripped on the handrail, and with my mouth halfway opened, I drifted my gaze towards Roam and Ymzael.
My hand lifted in the air as I pointed at the smoke with my brows almost meeting. "W--What's going on there?"
Roam threw Yzmael a meaningful glance before he looked at me again. "Don't leave the house. We'll see what it is."
My grip on the handrail tightened. The sun was about to set and looked like some campers started a bonfire to keep them warm for the night. If that would be the case then I would need to go to them. They could be my ticket out of here but... was I ready to go?
The thought of leaving Roam brought a tug in my chest but I immediately pushed the stupid feelings aside. This was the perfect time to leave, right? Before I fully lose my sanity and give in to whatever Ro
Chapter 16MY HEART banged hardly inside my chest as horror sketch on my face. Vampires, but unlike Yzmael, they looked--lifeless, and undeniably terrifying. Their complexion were too pale and bluish veins appear underneath their skin. Darkness was already conquering the bleeding sky, and as I looked into their scarlet eyes, I saw nothing but their hunger for something. My eyes widened when I realized what they were craving for. My blood. They were hungry for my blood...The painful truth about the real world suck into my mind. I was a mere human. One of the creatures who would always belong at the bottom of the food chain while people like them exist, hiding in plain sight, blending with their preys and ready to attack once the perfect moment would come. One of them held me by my hair and pulled me up. I groaned in pain, unable to get off the blonde's grip. It felt like my scalp was getting stripped off my skull but they didn't seem to care

Chapter 17YZMAEL had to take his steps slowly so I wouldn't get left behind. Rain was heavily pouring already as we made it to the house. He stopped by the door, but when he realized he wouldn't be able to get in without Roam inviting him, he sighed and looked at the porch."We're gonna have to get him inside through the bedroom's porch. I can climb up but you're gonna need to drag him in. Do you think you can do that?" he asked, worried about my ankle even when he, too looked ragged.I bit my lower lip and looked at Roam with a heavy heart. My tears wouldn't stop falling as I blamed myself for what happened. It was my fault why he was like this now. Dragging him in with my ankle swelling was the least I could do.I looked at Yzmael again. Wiping my cheeks with the back of my hand, I took in some air before I nodded. "I'll open the porch's door and prepare the blanket. I won't be able to carry him to the bed so might as well make the floor comforta
Chapter 18I COULDN'T believe Izzy wouldn't be satisfied with a bottle of whisky. I had to take three trips down the stairs just to get him a total of ten bottles. God, he's even worse when he was drunk. He kept talking about how much he loved Alice and how stupid Bella was for choosing Edward over Jacob."I thought you're team Cullen? Why are you siding on Jacob now?" I asked with furrowed brows, a blanket was wrapped around my body while I sit next to Roam who's still asleep. His body was facing me, and somehow, I felt relieved to hear his deep breaths. Good. That meant he's still alive. Izzy said we might need to wait a couple days for Roam to wake up. That meant more of this Twilight drama from a real centuries old vampire.Izzy placed his index finger in front of his lips while making a shush. His eyes looked sleepy already with all the alcohol he jugged in the last three hours but looked like he was still going to ask for another
Chapter 19RoamI COULDN'T BREATHE. No matter how much I wanted to stop myself from looking at her through the rearview mirror, I couldn't stop myself... and it was fucking painful to see her run after me.Why? Why was she still chasing me? Her words in my head that night she ranaway was crystal clear. She might not be aware that she was sending me those words, still, it pierced through my heart like a hundred knives.Maybe she was right. If I didn't happen in her life, in this lifetime or before as Halia, maybe things wouldn't always seem so tragic for her.I tried to close my eyes as I approached the next crossroad, but when I saw Jemimah fell on her knees, shouting my name and begging me to come back, my heart got torn into pieces. Never did I ever wish to break hers...With my heart slamming hardly inside my chest, I stepped on the gas and turned the car around. I watched her get up on her feet. She was biting her lower lip
Chapter 20JemimahI NOTICED Roam was thinking too deeply while he was outside by the porch, drinking a bottle of whisky... again. My sleepy eyes blinked until my vision went vivid. Miss Elizabeth was sleeping next to me on the bed so I moved carefully until I was able to get on my feet. Roam didn't seem to notice that I was awake. His eyes were staring blankly at the starless sky while his inky brows were almost meeting.I hugged myself as the night time breeze soothed through my skin. My shoulder leaned against the door frame. "Why are you still up?" I asked. He looked at me, his face suddenly relaxed as if I saved him from getting drowned with his own thoughts. He rubbed his palm on his face before he faced his body towards me. "Shouldn't I be asking you that? Did I wake you up?"I shook my head before my gaze drifted towards the halfway empty bottle in his hand. "You always drink, Roam. That's bad for your health, you know."
Chapter 21MY LEGS FELT NUMB after almost an hour walk. We had to travel for like four hours by car because Roam's nephew finally agreed to meet him and Izzy. Left with no choice, I had to come along since it wasn't safe to stay in the house on my own.The group Syd was said to be joining had rogue wolf members now. Even when vampires wouldn't be able to get in without proper invitation, the wolves could. They just have to drag me out and the vampires could feast on me easily.Roam must have noticed my tiredness. He anchored his arm on my shoulders and pulled me gently to his chest. "I can carry you on my back if you can't walk anymore."Touched by his concern, I looked up and gave him a smile. "I'm fine but thanks."He gave my arm a gentle squeeze after he pecked a kiss on my head. "Don't worry, we're almost there."I jerked my head in response before I gazed at Izzy who didn't seem so much of himself today. He was surprisingly quiet the wh
Chapter 22RoamSYD WATCHED the door shut behind him before he let out the suffocating air in his lungs. He sat on the same spot where Jemimah was earlier, and with the way his jaw clenched, I could tell he was not happy."What? Change of plans, Uncle?" he asked with the tone I didn't like at all.My fists clenched on my sides as I narrowed my eyes at my nephew. This wasn't the Syril Dawson I left in Esmeray. He was compassionate, respectful, and lively. Even the cheerful glow in his green eyes were gone, and all I could see was a total stranger.I heaved a sigh. "You know I loved Halia."He laughed, a mocking one as he shook his head in disappointment. "How sure are you even that she's really Luna Halia, hmm?"With my eyes piercing at him, my arms folded in front of my chest. "I know. It's not that hard to tell. My heart is too familiar with her soul for me not to know she's the one I once lost.""You mean the ve
