CHAPTER SEVEN

A love potion, Can I really make it happen? Waverly had been asking herself that for a week now.

“Hermanita!” sister, Wave, shouted from afar.

“What do you want!?” she shouted back.

Wave smirked at her. “Can we talk? I need your help with something, actually.”

Knowing her big brother, she immediately agreed. Waverly knew how rare it is for her brother to ask for her help that at some point, she sometimes wanted to throw a party whenever Wave asked for her assistance.

“So, what's up?”

Wave sighed and looked into her eyes. He looks determined. “I talked to mama about the upcoming celebration in the kingdom…” he said in a trailing voice. He bit his lower lip, “I declined her invitation.”

Her jaw dropped at his confession. “Why did you decline it, hermano?” big brother?, She sighed and leaned on the sofa, “How did mama take it?”

“She was angry that she hung up.”

Their mother never hung up on them unless she was angry and disappointed. Waverly understands her, they had been declining her invitations ever since they set foot on the Philippines. They only attended when it's an emergency and on life-threatening situations.

She tapped her brother's shoulder and caressed his back to console him. “What is the celebration about?”

“The release of the approved Independence Day.” he replied in a soft voice.

Just like her, Wave had a hard time accepting the new system and the truth about their country.

“They are already adjusting now, huh? Why don't we investigate about the Late Queen?” she said, the bitterness in her voice dripping like honey.

“You know we can't do that, Alaia. We might endanger our family, the throne, and our people.” Wave took her hand and intertwined it with his hand.

It's a sign that Wave is calming his self. He always does it, Wave had been telling her that she's the only who can calm him.

Sighing, Waverly rested her head on Wave's shoulder. “Alright then, let me talk to mama later. I'll sort things out for you, for us.”

She saw Wave smiled at her remark. They stayed in their position for an hour before Wave bid his goodbye because he had an emergency at his work.

When her brother left, Waverly immediately went back to her research paper about the love potion.

She can't believe that she actually researched about witches and witchcraft.

Waverly asked her butler to look for some folk healer, a witch doctor or “albularyo” as Filipinos addressed them.

Their kinds are the one who practiced folk medicine and use medicinal plants in their trade. They are mostly found in the more rural areas in the country. People claimed that practitioners have supernatural powers that modern medicine does not provide. That said, belief makes them more trustworthy than the modern ones, aside from practicing folk medicine, they are also alleged to practice black magic and cursing people.

Waverly learned all of that after living in a rural place for a year, two years ago. She never believed any of that. But now, she has to risk everything for her to become an official member of the RVS.

She wanted Maman to believe in her. It's okay if she can't receive the title of a Viscountess, as long as she will be official.

She took the paper in her desk and looked at the list she made for the potion to happen.

a. Oxytocin

b. Dopamine

c. Norepinephrine

e. Serotonin

f. Fresh local honey

g. Alstroemeria flowers

h. Forget-Me-Not flowers

i. Red Dahlia

j. Rhododendrons

k. Two Hair strands

l. Five drops of blood from the bait.

As she looked at the ingredients she included in her project for too long, it started to make her head ache.

An oxytocin is a hormone, at some point, it was called the love drug. It is sometimes referred to as the “love hormone,” because levels of oxytocin increased during hugging and orgasm. It is associated with empathy, trust, sexual activity, and relationship building. The main reason why she decided to include it in her ingredients.

As of Dopamine, it allows feeling pleasure, satisfaction, and motivation that can really go well in a relationship. While the Norepinephrine gives the ability to concentrate. A concentration is most needed to make it work, to lock the target in her trap. Serotonin, for the controlled happiness of the target in the bait. To make them believe that they are truly with bait.

The fresh local honey will be the decoy, the potion will disguise as a honey drink given by the bait. Alstroemeria is a flower that she will blend because it means love and strength. Forget-Me-Nots as the sign of not forgetting that they are trapped without them realizing it.

While the Red Dahlia represents the power that the potion holds and Rhododendrons symbolizes that the bait is in danger, a danger they never knew and will never escape unless they were given the antidote.

As for the hair strands, it will come from the victim, to ensure the target as well as the blood from the bait.

I guess that's it. She thought and smiled tiredly.

Waverly immediately dialed her butler's number. “Amo, what's the update?” she asked politely.

Amo Denzler, the name of her butler. He is only seven years older than her.

“Your highness, I found someone. We're on our way to your office.” he replied in a raspy voice.

Her eyes narrowed, “That fast?” her heart started pounding, and her smile is a mile wide.

Amo chuckled lowly. “Yes, your highness. Don't you have faith in your most awesome butler?” he replied, smirking, as if Waverly is in front of him.

“You're so full of yourself, Amo. What and where did you bring the Amo Denzler I met a decade ago?” She clicked her tongue as she hissed at him jokingly.

Amo's laugh filled her ears. “You always say that, V, but you hated it when I act all butler to you. And what happened to Amo from a decade ago, you say? Well, he became her older brother and her best friend, that's what happened to him.”

“Where he is now? He's on a very almost dislocated rural place and on his way to you.” he replied, mocking and joking her.

What he said is true. She always hated it when Amo is being in his butler robot act. They may always fight and mock each other, but the man had helped her a lot ever since.

“Alright, alright. I'll see you soon, A. I need to rest now.”

They exchanged their farewells as well as Amo's reminders to her before she finally ended the call.

See you soon, witch doctor.
