CHAPTER SIX

“Deshawn.” A voice called him in a distance.

He turned his head to see the person who called him, and he saw his best friend, Wave.

“Hey.” He greeted and tapped Wave's shoulder.

“What are you thinking, D?” Wave asked.

Deshawn heaved a deep breath. “Things happened years ago.” he answered.

“Stop thinking about those things, D. That person is a narcissistic, they made you believe that no one can accept you and love you because of what they did to you. It's their fault, D. Never yours. Always remember that.” Wave said while clenching his jaw.

Every so often, Wave regrets leaving Deshawn alone in the Philippines a few years back. But he knew that he can't turn back time now, so he just decided to be there for his friend who he owns as his brother.

“I know that, A. Maybe my thoughts are active again because I haven't really visited my therapist for two weeks now.” He replied nonchalantly, sounding as if it's not a big deal.

“Are you trying to kill yourself, D!?”

Deshawn smirked at Wave, cause him to earn a punch on his stomach. “You crazy bastard. Let's go and meet with Miss Wishengrad.” with that, Wave grabbed Deshawn's arm and dragged him out of his office.

Deshawn just shook his head and let Wave dragged him. Everyone was eyeing them when they walked down the halls, especially Wave's arm on him. It actually looked like he did a crime because Wave is still wearing his police uniform including his hat.

He saw his secretary, Clarence looking troubled and ready to ran towards them when he signaled him that it is okay, and it's nothing. Clarence just nodded at him in response, he knew that he can't do anything about his decision.

Wave pushed him to set in the shotgun seat and drove to Locus Group of Hospitals in the city.

When Wave learned about what happened to Deshawn, he immediately contacted his psychologist slash psychiatrist friend, Kliatt Locus Wishengrad. The CEO of Locus Hospital.

“Why didn't visit Kliatt, D?” Wave hissed at him as he accelerated his car.

Deshawn shrugged his shoulders and made a face. “I was busy, A. I forgot about it.”

Wave just clicked his tongue and drove, fast and the furious style. He hated the fact that Deshawn sounded uncaring of his health again, his depression is attacking again, he thought.

“Hey, Wavey!” Kliatt greeted him when he entered her office.

“Hey to you too, Locus.” He greeted back and hugged her.

Kliatt hugged him back and slightly patted his cheek before facing Deshawn with her eyebrows raised at him.

“So, you're still my patient, huh? I thought you already forgot about me, Mr. Jenkins.” She scoffed, clearly annoyed at Deshawn's absences in their sessions.

Deshawn scratched his nape and looked at her. “I'm sorry.”

Kliatt clicked her tongue and motioned him to sit, and she turned to Wave who's watching them silently. “Do me a favor, Mr. Knight. Leave the room and stay at my second office, I want to talk to my patient privately.”

Wave nodded and left the office silently, leaving the two of them.

“I want to be honest with you, Deshawn. Yes, I can help you with your nightmares and traumas. I can make them disappear, but, I can't do it without your cooperation. I'm just an instrument, a guide who can help you bring back your peace, it's really up to you and your willingness to be better.” She explained calmly to him.

“I know, Miss. I'm sorry again. I was just really occupied with work stuffs.” He replied.

Kliatt tapped his shoulder. “There's nothing to be sorry about, Deshawn. Just make sure to attend all of our sessions. I want to help you, really help you, so cooperate with me, okay?” She said as she squeezed his hand in assurance.

“I will.”

“Well then, let's start now.” she said smiling, “How are you these past weeks, Deshawn?” she asked, and she started her hypnotizing him.

She needed to hypnotized him, so he can tell her the truth because Deshawn tends to lie whenever he's not under it. She learned about it the first two months of their sessions, and that's when she asked for his permission about hypnosis. So, she can talk to his subconscious, the bare Deshawn Amias Jenkins.

“She brought me to Miracle again…”

And that's when the almighty, Deshawn Jenkins, cried and devastatingly told his story.

Four hours had passed when they finally finished the session. It took longer than the usual because of his absence.

Kliatt clasped her hands and faced Deshawn who's waiting for her new diagnosis. “Deshawn, I'm sorry, but you're not getting any better.” she murmured and massaged her nose's bridge in frustration, “I told you, there are people who can help you to get out aside from me. Let's report her.”

“Your PTSD is much more severe now, D, and I can't just keep giving you medication because it will be bad for you too. You need to escape as soon as possible. I know it's hard, but you need to be strong and believe in yourself that you can escape her, and you will escape her. She's poison.” she explained.

Deshawn's shoulders slumped. “Give me more time, Miss. I promise to escape sooner.” he replied in a trembling voice.

Kliatt smiled at him softly. “Alright, Deshawn. In this battle, you have me and Wavey, okay? Can I call him in now?”

He smiled and nodded. “He's the only one you can talk to about me anyway. You can sedate me, Miss.” he said in a trailing voice.

“You want me to sedate you? Why?”

“I haven't really slept a wink since last week.”

She asked him to lay down on the mattress in the corner of her office, and she sedated him as she called for Wave to discuss their plan about Deshawn's condition.

“How was it, Locus?” Wave asked her when he came back and sat across from her.

Kliatt pressed her lips together tightly before answering him. “He's condition is getting worse, Wavey. We need an exit plan for him, the sooner, the better.” she said worriedly.

“I know, Locus. I just received a call, we finally found an exit for him.” he said in relief.

Hearing the news, Kliatt smiled widely.

Finally, freedom for D. A freedom he clearly deserves.
