CHAPTER ELEVEN

CHAPTER 11

On her way to meet Dwayne, Waverly suddenly received a call from her older brother.

“Where are you?” Wave asked on the other line.

Waverly maneuvered the car into the side of the road before answering him. “Going back to the office, I'm at Fairview now. I was supposed to meet Butter, but she cancelled at the last minute. Why?”

“Driving?”

“Yep, but I pulled over. Why did you call?”

“Can you go here in my office first? I would like you to meet someone.” Wave said hesitantly.

She frowned at her brother's tone. “Is it finally a girlfriend? You sounded a little nervous.” she chuckled, teasing him.

“Haha, very funny. It's not a girlfriend, but it's someone important.”

Waverly checked the time. It's still early for testing. “Alright, I'll go there to meet that someone. See you in thirty.”

She sighed before looking at her location. The U-turn was too far away from where she is, but it's her brother, so shrugged her shoulders and continued driving towards their company.

“Good day, Ms. Knight.”

“Glad to see you again, Ms. Knight.”

“Greetings, young miss.”

Every employee greeted her as she walked in the halls. She's not just the sister of the owner of this company, but she's also one of the investors and board of directors.

She just gave them a smirk and nod.

It's great to see how well things are going in here.

“Ms. Knight!” Sylvie stood upon seeing her.

She smiled and motioned to her brother's office. “Good day, Syl. Do you know who's with my brother?” she asked. Clearly fishing for information before she walked in to that door.

“Honestly, I don't know. I've seen him before too many times, but he never mentioned his name.” Sylvie said.

“Him?” confusion was evident in your eyes.

Sylvie nodded. “Yes, Ms. Knight. It's a man, I guess in his twenties. He's always here twice or thrice a month.”

My brother actually has a friend? My stone-cold brother?

She smiled at Sylvie and waved her hand to dismiss her. “Alright, thank you. I prefer not to fish more information because it might only bring confusion. I'll just ask him myself. I'll see you again, Syl.”

She walked towards the office's door and knocked three times before she opened it and entered.

“Little sis!” Wave beamed at her and walked towards her, but Waverly's gazed is at the man sitting in the couch.

He might be that someone important.

“Hey there, brother dear!” she greeted back and kissed her brother's cheek.

The man stood up and extend his hand to her. “I'm Deshawn Jenkins, nice meeting you.” he said lowly.

“Nice meeting you, I'm Waverly Knight.”

Deshawn just nodded at her, making her frown. Who exactly is he for brother?

“Now now, don't frown.” Wave held her shoulders and assists her to sit down across Deshawn.

She clasped her hands and sighed. “Okay, brother mine. Can I ask?” she said while raising her eyebrow.

“Of course! What is it?” Wave anticipated, clearly assuming that his sister's question was serious.

“Is he your boyfriend? That's the only logical thing that can enter my mind right now.” she said straightforwardly making Wave and Deshawn rooted at their places with their mouth hanging in midair.

Silence surrounded them for five minutes before Wave finally stood up and flicked his finger on her forehead.

“What the hell are you thinking, young lady?” he spat irritatedly.

“Well, what do you want me to think then?” Waverly stood up and pointed at Deshawn, “You never introduced someone to me, and you said, you will do it if it's someone who holds your heart!”

Wave shook his head and messaged his temple. “I did say that, but it's different this time. Deshawn is my best friend, not my lover, you silly girl.”

“Oh.” Waverly cleared her throat before sitting down.

“Yes, oh. You should've let me finish first.” Wave replied and clicked his tongue.

“Do I look like I swing that way?” Deshawn couldn't help himself to comment in the situation making the siblings looked at his direction.

Waverly just shrugged her shoulder in response.

“Well?”

“No, it's just that I can't help myself but to ask, okay? I never like complicating things.” she said and smirked at him.

Deshawn looked at her ridiculously. “And that's the first thing that came to your mind?”

Waverly rolled her tongue over her lips. “You can't blame me, and I apologize, Mr. Jenkins. I was just really shocked that I can't wrap my head around by the fact that my cold-hearted brother actually have a best friend. That's unexpected.”

“Your brother is cold, but he's warm too.” Deshawn said without any hesitation.

Waverly couldn't agree more. “Well, yeah. He is, and I'm proud that I'm his sister even though he's a jackass at times.” she said while chuckling.

“Wow, you guys are talking like I'm not in front of you.” Wave said sarcastically, getting their attention.

Waverly and Deshawn just shook their heads. Wave never really likes when he becomes an air in a conversation.

After Wave cleared his relationship with Deshawn, they continued to talk as Waverly asked questions over questions that they answered.

Waverly felt happy after knowing how Deshawn knows her brother. She knew how stubborn Wave can get, it's good that he has a friend that can balance him and his attitude, at that.

“Excuse me first, I'm just going to go to the restroom.” Waverly excused herself and immediately left the two.

“Your sister is astonishing, dude.” Deshawn said with a smile.

Wave felt proud hearing it. “Of course, she is! That's why no one is worthy of my little princess doll.” he said using his cold voice.

Deshawn just shook his head. Wave surely has a brother complex. He adores his sister too much, he knew that because Wave never stopped talking about his little princess.

“Then, she'll be single for the rest of her life?”

“No. I want her to be happy and have her family, but I need to analyze the man very well first. I don't want her to fall into the wrong arms, my sister is not a toy to be played with.” he spat with conviction.

“Alright, alright!” Deshawn said while raising his both arms as if surrendering, “Do you have a tea? I don't like the taste of this coffee brought by your secretary.”

“I don't, but Waverly sure has it.” Wave replied as he reached for Waverly's bag in the chair, “She always brings tea in a shaped bottle, her kind of collection.”

"Ah! Here is it!” Wave happily exclaimed when he brought out a heart shaped bottle.

Deshawn looked at the bottle in front of them. “Are sure that it's tea? It doesn't look like tea to me.” he said, frowning as Wave poured it in his glass.

“It's tea, trust me. No one loves tea better than my sister.” Wave said and laughed.

“All right, here goes nothing.” Deshawn said and drank the “tea”.

Suddenly, they saw Waverly gaping at them with wide eyes.

“No! That's not my tea.” she shouted horrified.

But it was too late because Deshawn already finished drinking it.

“What's the tea named? I like the taste.”
