CHAPTER THREE

DESHAWN Amias Jenkins, A famous CEO, owner of Jenkins Airlines. He is known for being a notorious businessman, and for being a handsome part-time model. Women lined up for him,, but he's already taken by the beautiful famous actress, Shaira Delgado.

He's every woman's dream— Deshawn stopped reading the magazine about him. He didn't know why he agreed to it at the first time.

Every woman's dream, my ass.

He sighed and called his secretary. “Jeremy, ready my car. I'll meet with someone.” he ordered and hung up the phone.

He stood up and left his office. It's already five in the afternoon, he needs to finish his meeting with the new investor from Spain by six because he still needs to fetch his long-time girlfriend, Shaira.

He needs to be on time, he can't be late for her or else there will be a non-stop war.

He's already tired from working, he didn't want a fight to break out again. It will be exhausting, and it's definitely not good for him.

“Mr. Jenkins, the car is ready.” his secretary approached him when he reached the parking lot and hand him the keys.

He took the keys and walked towards his car. He starts the engine and stepped on the gas. Furthermore, he called his close friend, Wave Knight.

“What's up, bro?” Wave, greeted him on the other line.

Deshawn clicked his tongue. “Any news, dude?”

“None. I'm sorry, bro.” Wave said lowly.

Deshawn messed his hair in annoyance. He stepped on the gas more, making him look like he's in a race with someone. He's frustrated.

“Deshawn! Slow the hell down!” Wave shouted, waking Deshawn up in his reverie.

“Bro, I don't have news for now,, but it doesn't mean that I will stop. I promised to help you, remember? A Knight never breaks a promise. So, trust me.” He added, making Deshawn calm.

“I have a severe trust issues, Wave. Everyone person I trust betrays me, stabs me in the back and still smile when they're in front of me. Tell me, Wave, How can I trust someone if it always happens?” He said bitterly.

Wave sighed before answering him. “We've been friends since High school, Deshawn. Did I ever betray you in those years? No. You may not meet any member of family, but you are one of my best friends. I will get you out. No matter what it takes, D. Now, shut up and let me work. Wait for my updates.” Wave said irritatingly before he hung up.

Great! I just annoyed the only person who believed in me and helps me. You really are an arse, Deshawn.

He just sighed and parked his car. He stepped out from his car and fixed his tux before walking inside the restaurant.

I'll just call Wave again later. To apologize. I can't lose another friend.

“Table for how many, sir?” the waiter said.

“Reservation from Ms. Sotelo.” He replied, making the waiter anxious.

“Please follow me, sir.”

The waiter guided him into a VIP room upstairs. “Thank you.”

When he entered the room, A woman greeted him. She must be Ms. Sotelo.

“Good evening, Mr. Jenkins. Please, have a seat.” the woman told him as she motioned the seat in front of her.

“Good evening, too, Ms. Sotelo.” He formally greeted and took her hand for a handshake, which she smilingly took.

They both sat down. Ms. Sotelo took the wine glass from their table and took a sip before facing him.

She clasped her hands on the table. “So, How's your business doing, Mr. Jenkins?”

“It's doing alright, Ms. Sotelo.” he said and smiled sheepishly.

“Oh, I haven't introduced myself. How rude of me.” Ms. Sotelo said, “I'm Hussain Sotelo, CEO of Sotelo group of companies.”

“And I'm Deshawn Jenkins, nice meeting you, Ms. Sotelo.”

Hussain shook her hand in front of him. “Call me Hussain instead, We're on the same age.” she said while smiling.

He nodded. “Alright, then. You can call me Deshawn too, Hussain.” he said.

Breaking the ice between them, they immediately started their meeting how Hussain wanted his Airlines for her work and company. Their meeting went smoothly.

“Thank you, Hussain. I'll do my best to exceed your expectations in this project.” he said as Hussain started to sign their deal.

Hussain smirked. “Thank you too, Deshawn. Your company will be a big help to mine so, don't hesitate to call me anytime.”, she said then hand him her calling card.

A knocked on the door made their heads turn in its direction.

“That must be my fetcher.” Hussain said, “Come in!” she lowly shouted.

A man wearing a suit entered the room, he knew the man, it's Sin Sandridge. A well-known architect.

“Good evening, Am I interrupting something?” the man said apologetically.

He shook his head. “No, are you Sin Sandridge?” he can't help but to ask.

“Oh, yes. I am. You know me?” Sin asked surprised.

“Ah, yes. I knew you from your works. I admired them.”

They exchanged more words before Hussain and Sin finally left. Deshawn fixed his things before leaving the restaurant.

He just closed a big deal and able to do a collab with one of the best companies out there.

He checked his wristwatch to looked at the time. Five forty. He bit his lip and hastily went to his car to drive to Shaira's location. He knew he will be late even if he accelerates,, so he decided to call her.

After four rings, Shaira finally answered his call.

“Where the hell are you!?” Shaira said irritatingly, shouting from the other line.

He sighed. “I'm sorry, babe. I'll be late, can you wait?” he said calmly.

“Huh! You think I wouldn't know that you met a girl in a restaurant?” she spat angrily.

“Babe, that's an investor I met.” he replied, trying to explain, but Shaira is deaf to all of his explanations.

“I know you're lying to me, Deshawn! Investor!? That young and pretty? Just admit it. And don't come here. Meet me at the miracle instead and ready yourself.” Shaira said before she hung up.

Deshawn immediately changed his route and drove. Looking at the building in front of him, he can't but to whisper, Miracle, my nightmare.
